Context, JG, context. Not trying to be a negative Nellie. 17-10 in August is outstanding. 2-4 on the current home stand, with two bad losses to possibly the worst team in MLB and a game in which the pitching staff have up 6 home runs (albeit to possibly the best team in MLB) falls short of that standard, IMO. Good to see Iwakuma get the win yesterday. Back on track? Let's hope so.

I guess my point was that the recent "mini-slide" (can I have that term?) is probably more a reflection of the way baseball works than an indication that the Ms are headed down the toilet. When you see Felix, who is having his best year ever, give up 4 jacks (the most in his career), how can you come to any other conclusion? The way I see it, unless they absolutely bomb in September (no reason to expect that to happen), this will have been a successful season. The hell of it is that the rest of the division and the top AL teams in general are playing so well that a team with 90 wins is fairly likely to miss the playoffs, and unfortunately, there's a good chance that team will be the Mariners.
