Mingo says, I don't use a very long stick. I actually prefer a 6'6" to 7' spinning rod for spinner fishing or jig bouncing.

It is a good a good point.

Some of the bank spots I fish on the Sky are so brushy that a long rod is difficult to cast. I do use my 10-1/2 foot rods when float fishing with Berkley 50 lb.braid. When casting spoons, I prefer mono.

I'm pretty much a Spiderwire fan in 20 lb test for my shorter rods including some fiberglass telescopic rods that fold down to 18 inches and are 6-7 foot rods when fished. They are great for traveling or hiking with a day pack.
