Central Sound Chinook anglers will see reduced summer fisheries, and word of that is riling social media, but prospects look good for coho and pink salmon fishing across Western Washington this season.

A WDFW manager confirmed to Northwest Sportsman that Area 10, the waters off Seattle, Shoreline, Bainbridge Island and parts of the Kitsap Peninsula, will have no mark-selective Chinook retention season this year, while Area 9 to the north in Admiralty Inlet will open in mid-July with a quota of less than 2,500.

That probably won’t last long with how popular the fishery for fin-clipped kings has become since its inception.
