I work from home but I am also self employed. I have an office in the house and I do put in a lot of hours. However, as I am a real estate appraiser, when the market is hot you put in tons of hours. When the market is cold, you have some free time.

Couple things to keep in mind when working from home:
1) Do you have a family? If so, they need to understand that just because you are home, you are still working

2) If you have a family, sometimes it would be nice to have an office somewhere else.
