Haha - I have a FF team "The Chunder Eagles". I play in a 10 team league and honestly it is pretty fun for me. It is totally nerdy but it has it's good points (and I'm a nerd). The best part for me is just that it makes that many more games on Sunday interesting. Plus it is fun to watch all the best players in the league.
I think it comes down to personality types. If you are super competitive, FF is probably a drain. Some of the dudes in my league wake up every Wed night after waivers at 1 am to make their free agent grabs. They also get really pissed off when they lose. I don't take it too seriously even though I won the league last year.
There is a ton of luck involved. Basically, can you draft players who stay healthy. But I have noticed over the years that guys who have a consistently good team are always the same guys. They just pay closer attention.
It is really hard to come into an existing league with experienced players, I guarantee that your second year team will be way better. The key in the draft is to know what you want in your team and just stay on script.
My favorite thing about FF is the Draft. Ours is a full weekend of debauchery.
