Used to follow boxing. It seems like it has fallen from mainstream and is all about ppv. With boxing it seems like most fighters when they are fresh have pretty solid defense but as the fight wears on, both guys are standing toe to toe flailing their arms to see who falls over first.
In MMA, if you don't have good defense ALL fight long, you will be submitted or knocked out very quickly. The style and background of these fighters are what makes it entertaining. Been following it for around 7 years now and find it as entertaining as anything.
The only thing I don't care for is the self promotion/WWF/E stunts they pull to draw in bigger audiences. If you don't believe me, check out Connor McGregor or Rampage Jackson.
The fight that got me hooked on MMA was the Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber2 fight....wow
All the greats are really good at slowly breaking down their opponent. It's a chess match that involves dragging the weaker man into deeper water, or having the gift of being able to knock someone out in one punch. A good fisherman will employ a multitude of techniques given the water conditions to be successful because one technique or style will not be successful 100% of the time, same with fighting...
In all fairness to Redhook, he did call the Holm/Rousey fight... suprised me...like Rich predicting Trump to win
