Pretty alarming. The last human fatality by a cougar in WA state was in 1934. Perhaps cougars are only recently realizing that it's easier to catch a human - even on a fast mountain bike - than it is to catch a deer. Well that, and the fact that the forests have a lot more trail runners and mountain bikers these days than since 1934. I see a market niche for mountain bike helmets that extend down over the back of the neck for protection from cougar attack.
