Trump regularly insults folks he finds disgusting or threatening by calling them "dogs". Omarosa was referred to as "that dog". If canines could keyboard, social media would be aflame with their complaints about being compared to things vile by the POSUS. Not surprising that Trump doesn't own a dog. He is, in fact, the first president of the United States to be dogless in D.C. for over one hundred years. Wm. McKinley (1897-1901) was the last president to not have a dog, but he had other pets. One would have to go back to Andrew Johnson to find the next dogless prez. Johnson was impeached in 1868...just sayin'.
