Heard a bit piece yesterday about why hiring Kapernick is a good move by Nike. Time will tell, of course. Nike has lost market share because of a number of smaller new companies successfully selling shoes and sportswear. Nike doesn't need more middle aged and old white customers. Nike wants 12, 15, 20, and 30 year old customers who will buy their stuff for a long time. And Kapernick and his black justice issue resonates well with young customers, the people who will potentially buy a lot more Nike stuff over a longer term than a few old white racists. Seems like a plausible marketing strategy.
