Yeah, Borax is technically not a "soap" but its most common use is as a laundry booster. Borax is made up of various chemical compounds described in the link posted by Dan S. Thanks, Dan, that was interesting. I didn't know that Borax has a "sweetish metallic taste". Anybody care to verify that one*JK*? Borax can't be a soap because soap tastes like #$%&. I know because I used to cuss a lot as young boy (still do, just don't get punished).

Curing eggs in Boraxo would surely be a bad thing. Thanks, Os, I didn't want to lead anybody in the wrong direction. There are some people that have gone the wrong route though. My friend Parker cured some eggs years ago in Boraxo and I heard that Bryan at Ted's did the same thing years ago. The fish hit 'em ok but they were belching up bubbles from it.

I wash my Kwikfish in Lemon Joy or something similar, letting them soak in the "dishwater" to clean off all of the nasty sardine residue that's left on them. I think that mild dish soaps don't have any negative effects on fish. Doubt me? Take a look at my plugs sometime as most of them have so many funkin' teethmarks that it looks like somebody dragged 'em around behind the car.
