Can't someone plant a camera or a listening device in those rooms before the meetings?

If you look around at many WDFW Commission or NOF meetings, there is normally a WDFW LE person or persons in attendance.

I'm surprised (not really) with about six weeks before the first meetings should take place that the 2020 meeting schedule hasn't been posted on the WDFW website.

Maybe because they are waiting for the ruling on the Open Public Meetings Act Violations Lawsuit....

After all, if the department is found in violation, imagine the scramble to figure out how to pull off the North of Falcon without letting the public in!

I'm sure Ron Warren is already got a plan in place....

Probably would hear a fair amount of slapping, groaning, and giggles followed by the sweet smell of cigarette smoke.

How can our government do anything that is NOT transparent?????????

Don't we elect these public servants/chumps????

We ARE the friggin government "By, Of, and For THE PEOPLE"! Why are they (both Tribes and WDFW) trying to hide? Using "there were disruptions when the meetings were open" is a horrible excuse. Have security remove those that can't keep the discourse civil - problem solved.

Also, even if the gov 2 gov privacy was valid, WDFW should be holding pre-NOF meetings so they can accurately represent their constituents! Or go settle the science part of it with the tribes then hold constituent meetings before they go back to negotiate the seasons based on that science.

Lots of solutions to their arguments but they (both parties) seem to want to keep it in secrecy. Sure hope there's a good lawyer on that open meetings case!

1. Having a live feed video camera, broadcasting the same way the Commission meetings are done, would cover the Open Meeting requirement. (Something we proposed and was pissed on)

2. Every single "Public invited" North of Falcon Meeting is pure Bull$hit..The decisions are made by the tribes and any public input is only to make the "public" feel good and an attempt by WDFW to cover their as$.

3. WDFW does not represent anyone. The department is supposed to manage the resources. The Commission is supposed to represent us. But, they are puppets of the Governor and the Governor is the Tribes Bitch, so there is no representation for the Sportsmen.

4. The tribes dictate everything, and WDFW staff can either accept the seasons or the tribes walk out of NOF and go get their permits. Sportsmen on the other hand, stand on the shore and wait for NOAA.

This is North of Falcon. A pure fantasy designed to make the appearance that Non-tribal sportsmen are equal partners in the Co-management process, when the truth is, there is only ONE side truly running the Department and everything else is just for show.

Since were all becoming pretty accustomed to not having seasons anyway, why not all just go on an all out "fishing license walk out"? Dont have much to lose at this point..

We'll never do it. We're fisherfolk, and fisherfolk gonna fish as long as there's any opportunity, no matter how lousy. Besides, the lowland lake season sells more licenses than salmon and steelhead fishing, and that opportunity is still going strong.

All that said, I agree completely with the notion it's going to take a mass angler exodus (and resulting budget crisis) to get WDFW's, and subsequently the Legislature's attention. Purchasing a license is buying into the system, warts and all....

Does anyone know the legallity of taking my nephews fishing if I don't have a fishing license? Can I help land the fish? They are old enough to cast and fish without help. This is a serious question. The only reason I have to buy a fishing license in Washington again is to take my nephews fishing.

Just an FYI for anyone that cares......
The NOF meeting schedule should be up on WDFW's website by the end of the week, so I'm told.

That's a good question. Best answered by WDFW. You can certainly take them, probably net the fish and such, but probably can't cast, work the gear, set the hook, hand-off.

My concern would be running my boat, helping to land fish, and helping them tie on lures or flies. Of course WDFW will tell me I have to buy a license.
