With the numbers they way they are looks like we will have the same seasons as last year in the marine areas with maybe a Coho closure in 8-1. Anyone else have a different take?

We'll get what the Tribes give us...

It's all window dressing and smoke and mirrors until they sit down in the secret meetings and WDFW is told what the deal is.

Of course..."Any deal is better than no deal"

Actively making plans to go trout fishing this spring in E. WA and this summer in Montana. Maybe an early summer trout trip to BC as well. Soon to be putting the Spey rod, reel, and gear away. As for the salmon gear, I barely got it out a couple times last year. I'll give it a check and then put it away in the storeroom for who knows how long.

Meant to put this here originally but he'll it fits in both threads.

As much as I love chasing salmonids, I guess it's a good thing my dad also introduced me to spinyrays at a young age!

It's the future. We will end up changing our state fish to a yellow perch.

I think last years salt seasons will be the new norm. We accepted it last year so why would WDFW or the tribes do any different going forward? Probably cut a little more year by year until it is all closed.

Ding-ding-ding!!!

Give that man a cigar!!!

Why do you think they are fighting so hard against ANY public access to the harvest decision meetings??

Without us seeing and hearing their discussions and ultimately the deals being made, how can we possibly have any bases to object to the crumbs they toss under the table to us?

Does a dog object to the scraps he’s given, while the masters enjoy unfettered feasts?

Of course they will continue to slowly reduce the recreational harvest, it’s simple economics. Remove the competition and increase your profits.

Hey, any deal is better than no deal, right? Now, we can all run out and buy that license in silence and let them know we fully support getting bent over!

OR...STAND UP AT THE NEXT PUBLIC DOG AND PONY SHOW NOF MEETING AND CALL BS!!

If just 100 guys showed up protesting, things would escalate to a roaring fire...

Gee, I was at the last public meeting in Montesano on Thursday with my wife and there were at least 100 pretty concerned people there. I personally spoke (while publicly commenting) to Ron Warren to thank him for all he has done for us and making his presence noted at all these meetings before this one. I didn't note any rise in temperature in the room, but I didn't stay for the steelhead discussion as I was there for the 2020 forecast and public speaking opportunity. Bob R

Poor Ron Warren, he didn't know whether to "xhit or go blind"....he was actual lost for words....he'd have been better to just stay in the back of the room, and just not say anything then to come up to the front of the group and "then not really say anything, and looked dumb doing that."

Monty meeting was well attended, 2 WDFW LE there, must have expected problems, guides showed up, lots of WDFW personnel.

Pretty much another in a long line of "dog and pony shows" relative to salmon. Might be some chinook up for harvest but with the amount of people that would decend on the Chehalis, impacts would be gone IN NO TIME. I'd rather have a long Coho season, and jacks, than worry about "WDFW, quick finger on closures, shut the whole Chehalis system early.

It was nice that WDFW allowed time "for steelhead talk"....normally at these meetings, if a person mentions steelhead, sturgeon, or other fish.....they are shut off...and in no uncertain terms told.."this is about salmon"..

No spring chinook, again.....I remember Ron Warren saying at a meeting, many years ago, there will NEVER be any hatchery raised spring chinook in the Chehalis system....so far that is true........grrrrrr

Any idea if the MA 9 Chinook opener will be late again this season? It used to consistently open on or around July 16th. Last year it was later the 25th.

My read is it will be the same as last year unless the mid-canal chinook are written off.
