To provide equal representation and adequate opportunity for all anglers to experience every genre of "flyfishing" I'll contact the exalted leader of Indicators Anonymous (Sparkey) and check the feasability of initiating the first annual "BobberClave".

Just a few simple parameters and pertinent info;

1. No scotch over a year old allowed. Wine with screw off caps, boxed vino, beer costing under 1.50 a 6 pack, and carbonated malt beverages encouraged.

2. Cigars (other that Swisher Sweets) not allowed. We'd like to think we'll cater more to Camel Straight and Kool crowd.

3. Sage, Loomis, T&T, etc...don't even show up. We'll be supplying the hardware...(K-mart is closing down 300 more stores, sure there's some ammo launchers we can pick up cheap there).

4. Celebs coming? Sure...working on the Bud girls and trying to bend the ear of Jimmy Houston and Shaw Grigsby for their interpretation of the integration of Carolina salamandar flippin' and the Snake Roll.

5. Of course, everyone needs to bring their own supply of bobbers (indicators for the more polished crowd)....big, three-inch fat, natural cork ones, painted day-glo pink and orange for maximum visibility when the 1/4 oz lead eyes on the wieghted fly try to drag it under.

6. Transportation (working with the "Bigfoot" monster truck camp for all weather, all terrain transportation needs in incliment weather conditions common to winter steelheading) will be provided free of charge from selected areas of cultural interest in proximity to the clave location ie...Red Rooster in Humptulips.

7. One phase of BobberClave will be dedicated to dealing with the social stigmas placed upon individuals employing indicators by traditional speycasters, greased line propogators, and those who would not approach a river with anything not tied on an Alec Jackson hook. This segment of BobberClave was scheduled when an indicator fisherman was pelted with Tulamore Dew bottles thrown by anglers dressed in what was described by the victem as "lots of tweed and oilcloth". Poor guy lost his foam Buckhorn Beer hat in the incident.

We at Indicators Anonymous feel that the flyfishing public needs to be informed and educated on the proper way to huck a"big ole' bobber and bug" in a manner condusive to productive fish catching, social accountability, and fellowship among like minded individuals (registration fee does not include table dances, but IA will accept Marlboro proof of purchase boxtops or CamelBucks as partial payment).

Any questions or input? Call IA Grand Poohbah "Sparkey" banana laugh

Are you being sarcastic, or are you for "REEL"? Just curious...new to this forum.
-By the way...I think you spelled "anual" wrong.... Maybe you were trying to spell something else?
Good fishing, Darin

Sheesh! Thanks for the edit job Darrin...I gotta stop concocting this stuff after too many shots of isopropyl alchohol (beats the heck out of the taste of Clan WhatevermcTarnish, no matter how old it is).

Chuck,

Sparks can't be your grand poohbah because by your qualifications, he doesn't qualify!! All of his equipment is far too Gucci!

He won't even be seen with me with my Orvis waders and boots on. frown

Spark-
She's one smart woman if she's decked in Orvis...Milk that warranty for all its worth (think I'm on my fourth pair of Pro-Guides).

Trying to think of an official drink of IA board meetings..IPA could suffice although it is a bit too upscale for the likes of bobber fishermen. So I'm voting for Boones Farm, the fine malt derivitive. Anything is better than Utah fakkie beer. Man, its like a bad Smokey and the Bandit remake here....smuggling outa state brew over the border, hoping you don't get pulled over by the state police. Trips to the Green are great since we have to skip into Wyoming for a spell....the camp is always well stocked.

Looks like unless I get some phantom time-off I'm working through the first part of May full tilt. I'll have to scour the upper Salmon for some of the well traveled bunch after peak is over for me at work. But, everyone is getting jacked-up for ice-off. Tiger Muskies right behind the house and Strawberry Res, should be fun.

Till then its "SAY POW-DEA" and pray for snow!!!

'Bout damn time for an event for us less sophisticated feather heavers. I always feel so inferior cuz I got no AJ hooks for my flies. Get Sparks to post a time, date, and location so we can make plans now. I even bought some giant fuzzy yarn indicators a while back, but I haven't figured out how to fasten them to my leader, or line, or wherever they're s'posed to go. I've also got a couple 3" cork jobs I picked up off the bank on the Thompson a while back. One of these can float my whole fly box. Can't wait to observe an expert spey casting these humming bird floats. I might really learn something.

I may not be sophisticated, but I've got my limits to how cheap a beer I'll drink, so we might have to negotiate some of the finer details of this 'clave.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

Don't forget "we" should have a main street parade. Spark's can the Grand Marshall. The "GM's" official costume would be a "Dink Foats" G-string; Sparkie will have to tell us it he needs it done up in small, med. or large floats.

Given "we" will probably be driven out of town on a rail; a grand enterence would be too good to pass up. Anyone know where "we" can get a Turnip Truck for Spark's? Just have to make sure he doesn't 'fall off of it' during the Parade. what

For you guys wondering where the fish are:

Medford/Rogue has over 5,000 winter fish in the upper section of the river and our 'season' has just started. It's 55 degrees, bright sunshine and not a cloud in the sky. Rivers running at a little over 2,000 cfs and gin clear.

Couldn't be much better if it tried. I think I'll go do some "property inspections" this afternoon. banana

Krispey Kreams, with this crowd??

Come on now!! They are already raiding every Texaco in Western Washington trying to stock up on year old Ding Dongs and Twinkies!

The sticky wrappers on the floormats of the pimpmobiles and icing particals around their mouths are all that remain after a morning spent bobbing. :p

That sounds downright incriminating... No sticky, blood pressure increasng sugary foods for us bobber heads. We're more into the all natural, protein foods....Slim Jims, Spam, and Banana Yoo-Hoo.

Sparky's probably too modest to wear a G-string and dink floats, maybe some thing a little less risque, like one of Prince's seatless jumpsuits and a Little Richard wig. (Good golly Miss Molly) He can ride in the back of a monster truck with Thill Floats emblazoned on the doors tossing Ding Dongs and Twinkies to bewildered onlookers and a PA system blaring the theme song from Cops. The parade can start at the old smoke stack at the East end of Monroe and terminate at the State pen where Sparky will most likely be escorted inside for leading an unofficial parade of IA revelers goose-stepping in formation down Main street in waders with their rods at sholder arms. Then the theme song really kicks in. "Bad Boy, Bad Boy whatcha gonna do when the men in the pen get their hands on you?"

Just kidding Sparky. I'm not implying you're "that way" but when you started that "weiner" thread?????????? AAAACK! I think all the cabin fever due to the lousy season is getting to me.
