I was in idaho last week to visit my grand father and had the chance to take him fly fishing on a small stream. I forgot how much I liked it . What I need is a idea of where around marysville I can fish for trout on a stream. and where that i can get to in a few hours in ok. Iam looking for day trips. any help would be great. I just really loved the wading in a small stream. If any one wants to show me a good place I have a good 4x4 to get use there. Tom

Well I live in Marysville also and I fish a few of the local streams. Mostly both forks of the Stilly or Pilchuck Creek or the Sauk S/F. And thats all I like to do is flyfish and to get to any of these places all you need is a car. No 4X4 required. hello

I really like dry flys and hav never really did the wet thing that much. what are the local patterns and what type of trout are we talking about. when I did this alot it was in the serrias and mostly for browns and bows. if you and to go some time give me a call

Well there's roads that follow along both forks of the Stilly so the access is good on the upper portions. As for Pilchuck creek about the only access is at the bridges but after you get on the Creek you can almost walk from one end to the other, You have on bridge at the mouth, one by the freeway, one by Bryant, and one where hiway 9 crosses the creek. This should get you started. But If I was you I would wait until the sea runs start as all there is there now is smolts. End of July or the beginning of August are a good time to go.

I feel like I'm not giving away any secrets as this little creek gets poached pretty regular.

Yes there are dollies in the Sauk. But as for native R/B I don't really know. I know the the N/F Sauk has natives as there is a falls on the river and the steelhead can't get over it. As for the S/F I really couldn't tell you,but I've caught fish up to 14" inches out of the S/F but that was when I was alot younger and could get to the out of the way places. Was up there about a week ago and had a ball on small cutts. My trips up there are like I'll go fishing now as it is close or Maybe I'll go. By being retired I get the whim and I'll go.
