Got a question for any Multi Tip line users.
I was using Rio Versi-tip till a bad cut in my main line, now I need to replace it

I was thinking of getting the same thing but I have a free credit with Orvis and was wondering if any one has used there Advantage Multi tip? How is it ?
Any negitives ?
Thank you.

Matt,

I haven't used any of the factory made multi tips. I've been making my own since the 70s, and that still seems the best way to get the tips I need and want, with respect to sink rate. Manuafactureres generally don't provide very good information about sink rate - even when labeled, it doesn't necessarily measure out to what they claim.

Sorry I can't tell you a thing about the Orvis multi tip line.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

since you already own a multi-tip line that means you already have the tips. keep the tips from the rio line, buy a good full floating line (choose a belly length you are comfortable with), chop off 15' from the tip, put a loop on it and use your existing tips. why spend the money (or store credit) twice on a multi-tip line?

if you lost one of the tips when the line cut, just buy a replacement rio 15' tip (any decent rio dealer should carry them).

Matt-
Both topwater and Salmo g. made great points. My favorite multi-tips are the ones that I built to suit my exact needs.

BUT, if you do not feel like going through all the trouble, for $45, any Rio dealer can sell you just the body section of any weight Versi-tip.

Considering you already have the tips, you have need to buy a whole nother system.

Also, Rio's loops are the only ones I have full faith in (aside from my own). Airflo's are great but they have broke in the past and the SA and Cortland tips are not as clean or stiff as Rio's.

Good tips above I have been making my own sink tips for 20 years also. Check out the RIO T-14 sinking line to cut up into tips. It is thin and knifes through the water.
