Your typical Trumper wants the same income as someone with an advanced degree. But they’re against socialism.

I’ll bite. Most Trumpsters are idiots... but I haven’t heard many say they want the same income as those with advanced degrees. As someone with an advanced degree, I don’t make as much money as some people in some of the trades, or in certain fields/positions with a bachelors degree. A lot of your entry level trades or positions that only require an undergraduate degree can make pretty good money.

What are you basing this sentiment from? What seems to be a more accurate assessment of most Trumpsters is that they are tolerant of the socialism occurring for corporations but want rugged individualism for the people and working class, and damn the individuals in poverty.

Steamer, I agree with everything you posted.

I posted this because I think Trumpers fail to realize that some of the problems they see in American society, the “elitism” as they call it, can only be fixed by government with socialism and that is very ironic.

Of course the truth is work hard, be respectful, learn, grow, go to college, maintain work ethic for your entire life, and you will prosper in this country. The other truth is blame others, avoid learning, dwell in bad habits, avoid self improvement, be mopey, and your life will suck. Stop blaming government, blame yourself and your life choices. If you want government to fix this, the only tools are more taxes and or socialism.

My family comes from pig farmers in Kansas, nowadays they are doctors and engineers. They realized they could do better than pig farming generations ago. They didnt blame libruls for their [Bleeeeep!] pig farming life in middle of nowhere Kansas. They moved on and worked just as hard as a pig farmer in college and made a better life for themselves.

Agree BJeezus, Life's about choices, some people follow happiness, others burden themselves with material bullschit..... The ones blaming others are losers

Some hands in life are better or easier to play than others. Life’s challenges and difficulties can be overcome with determination, hard work, education etc. Everyone is capable of success, but for many who haven’t learned better, it’s much easier to complain, wallow in self-pity or blame someone else for failures instead of embracing a learning/growth mentality and trying again. This is what most people fail to teach their children. They lack grit, perspective, and or sometimes ability.

My parents both came from immigrant families and were poor growing up. My dad worked two jobs and my mom also worked in order to get me and my siblings a private school education and demonstrated the importance of hard work to be successful. They taught us to always think for the future instead of the immediate. My sister and I both attended college and both of my siblings and I are relatively successful because of what was demonstrated by my parents.

I’m fortunate to have had this in my life. Not all children experience this from their parents, which places them at a disadvantage. They will either learn through making mistakes or never learn at all. The cycle then continues.

Or get completely the hell out of the way and stop bailing out people for mistakes. In the immediate it could mean a degree of suffering and chaos, but in the long run it teaches invaluable lessons about how to learn from mistakes, think for the future, and to keep trying to succeed. Things will begin to sort themselves out.

The further down the line you go in one direction or the other will expose different types of flaws relating to either too much involvement or not enough. Punish the independently capable citizens by an over-involved government while helping the less capable, or punish the lesser capable by not “helping” enough. Take your pick.

This is the perspective of most Republicans, Conservatives, (and yes, even Trump Supporters cause that's all we've got right now) - at least the ones in my circle of friends.

Individual responsibility for your own success (a valid recipe quoted above). Help those that need help but don't reward laziness and irresponsibility or it will only create more dependency. I'm the first to help others in need but wouldn't even give $$ to my own kids (they don't need it) if they were to just waste it and show no initiative to improve their own abilities to earn and improve their life.

I don't think government can fix problems people are not willing to work to fix themselves.

BTW - HS diploma, first-quarter college drop out, but make over $200K/yr due to hard work and self-reliance.

Leave out the "go to college" part and you'll be getting closer to the ten ring, all of those in charge of our gov't these days went to college, all trained the same way by the same system, and all seem to be doing a pretty good job of failing.
College is for those not smart enough to carve out a spot with their own wits and hard work, of course anyone smart enough to be successful without going to college is also smart enough to stay out of politics... and therein lies the rub. wink

Isn't that the truth! Politics has become such a slime-ball profession those that could really do a good job won't touch it! (I'm sure there are notable exceptions)

Agreed! I have always wondered why anyone would be interested in politics.

We should all be glad you can do great in this country without a degree, but that doesn't mean we gotta tear down universities. I agree academic professionals can be insufferable but most people going to college arent there to be academic professionals. I learned a lot in college and it has helped me a lot in life and I don’t look down on the numerous people I work with who didn't attend college. A lot of people suck in the world, going to college probably didnt make them that way, they sucked in HS.

After the Citizens United decision it's pretty much been about making the most money as possible.
Corporations are people and money is free speech might not be what the Founding Fathers had in mind.

I didn't go to college, but everybody I work with has, many have PHDs.

I'd trust someone with additional education in a particular field to make decisions to those that don't.

It's interesting that Trump's demographic is uneducated white males.

What's even more interesting is the number of those uneducated people who post uneducated opinions here on PP.

I don't think having a big education is necessarily any better or worse than not having one...but if you are going to speak about things that actually require educations, then you should consider having one.

Doctors need to have their Medical Doctorate, lawyers need to have their Juris Doctorate, etc.

You don't get to "do your research" on youtube and have some other uneducated clown tell you about the law, and all of a sudden have a fuckin clue.

Pro tip: if you are getting your "research" from a youtube "expert", you are probably getting dumber each time you study.

I work in a field where I need to be educated, but work with very intelligent and successful people without advanced degrees or college degrees every day...and for what they do, it would have been a waste of time and money to go to college.

The problem is the growing anti-education crowd, pretending that their ignorance is as good as an expert's education.

It's not.

Fish on...

Trumpers are all on welfare and don't have jobs. That is why they show up at his COVID 19 rallies. They make fun of those who have degrees like Dr. Facci. I saw alot of Trump and Culp signs in Clallam county out by Forks most next to single wide white trash mobiles. All the way into PA where I witnessed the Biden Harris supporters. Trump is a socialist. Increased my federal income taxes and pays a very small percentage of what I pay. He wants to give the elderly $300 checks so they vote for him. Not to mention all the subsidies he has paid to farmers hurt by his tariffs. 3 trillion dollar record deficit this year. Who is the real socialist? Trump has more support for the less educated but I have friends that have degrees and support him. Biden is doing better with those who have college degrees. Better than Hillary. I know plenty of smart people who never went to college.
