My wife and I are thinking about fishing the Yakima for a couple days. Have never fished it before. We are considering staying in one of the cabins owned by Reds Fly Shop. Anybody ever stay there before? How are they? Any suggestions for other places to stay near the river?

It's been some years, but I've camped at Red's before. Nice place, clean showers, as I recall. Hired the vehicle shuttle service when I floated the river. I hear there is another camp downstream nearer Roza Dam, operated by a shop or outfitter, but I don't know the name.

If the Yak is at summer flows, you'll most likely need a boat to access much water. There's only a few places suited to walk n' wade fishing when it's running 3KCFS or better.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

Red's was sold a 2-3 years back. Not sure if the place has been cleaned up much. Great place to camp and fish the river. It's a fishermans kind of place. The new people are very good and helpful. Used to be if you wanted a pop and Red wasn't around you left the money in a can on the porch. AH the good old days.

Thanks for the input guys. Since we have never fished it before we will probably hire a guide the first day to learn a bit and then fish from my boat on day 2.

The new owners have done a nice job with the shop there.
Good luck,
