Ok, maybe it's just exciting to me, but had to tell you guys that my ten year old son caught his first steelhead today. We were bactrolling when the fish hit, a wild female about 8 pounds or so. My boy could not have been happier, nothin but teeth he was. Oh for those of you who must know, it was a pirate HotShot #35. Great way to end the year huh. Happy New Year!!

Way to go I cought my first steelhead around that age on eggs. It was a nine pound hatchery buck on the Lyre. Happy New Year...

Congrats to the young fisherman...would like to have seen the excitement of that moment. Two fish (steelhead)I remember the most, the first and the one I had to work hardest for. It was a weekday on the Lyre, first vehicle to the county park. Second car showed up and the occupant beat me down to the river...when I finally got down there he huriedly reeled up and moved to the next hole. Knowing he'd be one ahead of me I decided to fish in his wake. Before even making the first cast I asked myself, if I were a fish and someone startled me where would I go? Picking what I though would be a likely spot, on the third cast...fish! A 7lb. hen, mint bright and two jumps she headed down stream and threw the hook! No one there to witness it but me and the sound of that great river...BEST FISH I ever hooked. ><> ><> ><>

Congratulations! I bet the look on his face was worth a thousand words. I bet he can't wait to tell his friends.
