1st time this season to Shilshole launch for some MA10 Coho action yesterday. Wife took forever to pay at the station? Come to find out you can't pay via CC, DC, or cash any more. You have to have an app and pay by phone only, with no reciept to place on the dash. Was not that way last season. After a short delay we figured it out.
Question for those without a smart phone or phone at all... there are a few. How do they pay? If I get ticketed can I claim I couldn't pay because of the lack of options? Seems descriminatory to think everyone is on top of the tech game and owns a smart phone. What was wrong with the station that took at least your credit or debit card? Fishing wasn't hot for coho yet, got 6 for 4 of us, we had to work for. Humpy's still hanging in there which created lots of down time. Beautiful morning sunrise and calm water.

I really don't want to have to depend on technology for hunting and fishing information. I also had the same pay for parking issues both in Olympia and Hawaii. Makes me not want to go to those places that require my cellphone.

In the first of Greg Haw's three books on his experience as a WDF/WDFW enforcement officer he recounts one time when two sports were arguing over the catch limit. One was using and I-phone and one an Android. On one phone the limit was 2, on the other 4. The Agency knew of, but did not correct, the problem.

If I am out in the tule-weeds with no cell service just how am I supposed to know the regs without paper?

Just tried out the pay by app thing at sand point.

That was no fun. After 10 to 15 minutes my sweetheart was able to pass the launch fee test.

Maybe another new way to pay is in the works?

We did enjoy a nice afternoon on the lake.

So far, I have used two of the phone-only parking apps. Eventually, I succeeded in both. But, I will never return to either.
