I want to buy a rig that will do it all, Kings, Silvers and Steelhead. I have spent some time using a Calcutta 200a and really liked it so I am leaning towards a new 250. Are they worth the money? How do they hold up to a little saltwater use? Any impressions from people that have used them? Also what rod (Lami?) should I look at that will work well on the big 3? Any advice would be appreciated.

Shane, I have used my Calcutta 251 mostly for salt water for the past year. I have not had any problems with it but I do rinse my reel well after each outing. Also the Calcutta 25 and below maybe Gold colred but these reel were not ment for the salt water. I think you are better off with a Abu Garcia c3,c4 for the salt and save your money and get a Gloomis 1025, this combination is excellent.
The 1025 is rated at 8-17 Lb test and 1oz lure weight. I have used this rod for everything from Kings to Sockeye. This rod will handle the lighter line and fish and the hogs. Good Luck.

I have 2 Calcuttas, The 151 and the 251. The 251 will hold up fine. After fishing with the Calcuttas I want to throw my ABUS away.
For the rod, Get a seres G 1000 8'6" 10 to 20. It will work great. Personally I think the G 1000 series is a heck of a lot tougher than the Certified Pro. There are not as light though

I like to run the calcutta's with the lami espirit model's.An all around rod and reel would be the lami certified pro 8-17 med-mag
with the 251 with 15lb UG.Good luck,
