Was flipping channels last night and went by KCTS ch. 9; puget sound's public television channel. At 7:30 I noticed "Northwest Outdoors" come on so I checked it out and was impressed.
It is hosted by Hobart Manns(sp?) and covered lake chelan lakers, Astoria crab cakes and a visit to the Umatilla River fish hatchery.
Maybe I'm behind the times a bit and alot of you already know about the show but out here in Aberdeen, all we have is "america's outdoor journal" and the bass drivel on TNN.
Three things impressed me with the show...1) It is a northwest theme, 2) there are no commercials, and 3) There is a heavy emphasis on salmon, trout and steelhead.
This may become my #1 show because "america's outdoor journal" doesn't do enough salmon and steelhead episodes....especially steelhead. and "fishermen's heaven" is virtually unavailable to anyone outside seattle that doesn't have a dish.
Anyone else see this show regularly? I hope it's shown year around.
Correction: O.K., maybe I jumped the gun a little bit. Went to their website
http://www.northwestoutdoors.org/ and looked at their show list and come to find out they've only had 1 steelhead show in 4 years......not good. Sigh. but there is good variety on other topics.
