For many years I have used a popular brand of line wax while Bobber fishing to help keep my line floating on top of the water, but this stuff is not cheap. Is there any other products on the market that do the job at a lower cost? I have experimented with candle wax, but this didn't seem to stick to the line very well. Any comments or sugguestions would be appreciated.

Have you considered braided line as a main line and a mono leader? The braided line floats on the surface, eliminating the need for waxed line. Otherwise, when I used to use mono main on my bobber rod, I would use straight parafin and reel the line through the wax, the last 30 yards. It seemed to work OK. You would have to repeat this usually before every outing.

KORE is right. Braided lines are AWESOME for bobber fishing.
I have been using Power Pro for a year or two now and this stuff is amazing. I have never greased it and it floats great...can mend it like a floating bugline.
Give it a try in #30 in white. You will be hooked!!

I have had the tuff line pro on a reel of mine for about 4 years now. It doesn't flaot anymore. Moral to the story, change your line. I am going to do that today as a matter of fact. They are right tho, it floats and works great for boobers. Good luck.........

Another vote for a braided line ... why mess with the wax PLUS you get no stretch when you need it, when working a 90 degree angle from the bobber to the fish. Much better hooksets with the braids and you don't have to fiddle with things while fishing. I use 30# Power Pro in pink and treat the last bit of it with fly floatant and won't go back to anything else nowadays
