Hi Smoky.
Head up Wash. Hwy 14 thru the town of Stevenson and a few miles up (5 to 7?) you will come to the bridge crossing the Wind - park on the west side of the bridge area. Drano Lake is a few miles (11?) further up east from the Wind. You will cross the Drano inlet bridge and see the large boat launch area on the left by the Col. inlet 'lake'. ...
The best bank spot for fishing the mouth of the Wind springers is out on 'The Point'. You will see non-trailer parked cars near there. The point is a land outcropping on the west/downriver side of the large inlet bay out in front of Hwy. 14. You should plan on getting there very early for the best spots. In past years fishers did well with casting out weightless size 4 or 5 rainbow spinners with red beads, with such as Bear Valley or Cascade blade styles, with a little shrimp or herring scents on the hook, and using about a 3' leader and connecting to the mainline with about 1/2 to 1 oz. cresent mooching sinkers (with swivels at both ends). Try a deep slower retrieve with a good steady flutter action on your rodtip, which should be held low on most of the retrieve to get more depth and raise it gradually as thr lure approaches shore or it starts bumping bottom. Also, fishers are doing well clipping on both Mag & Standard Warts on this rigup in place of the spinners and casting and retieving. Reel in with a good action showing on your rodtip. Other good spinners and lures will work here too. In low and gin clear water conditions you should try size 3 or 4 brass blade spinners with green beads, especially on bright sunny days. I haven't seen it done, but id you can get away with it w/o interfering with others casting I would think flaotfishing eggs, shrimp, or prawns would work well with the bait level up off bottom 3' to 5'. ... All this tech also applies to bank fishing Drano Lake. The best bank area there is either side of the lower lake just above the Hwy. 14 bridge where fresh fish move thru the inlet opening into the lake. They move in spurts so keep at it until a group of fish moves thru. Good luck - lots of fish and fishermen!
