I don't usually fish the combat zones, but with three day's to fish and limited choices I'm heading to the wind. I've never fished there but know the area a little, should I bring my Drift boat or sled or stick to the bank. Or is it not even worth going?

In my book the Wind is always worth the drive! Especially this time of the year. My friends are headed down thursday. I was going but have schedule conflicts so Im waiting 2 weeks. If you go bring your sled. The biggest problem youll encounter is being late to launch. If you get to the launch at 4:00 AM your too late! Your gonna be behind too many people. The bite usaully starts in the dark and dosent continue too long somtimes. The guys who wait to launch sometimes never even know a bite happened cause they were too late. You must be ready to fish in the dark!!! Thats the best tip I can give. Also get right in the nitty gritty as the bite usaually takes place at one place instead of all over. I hear its a true zoo but the Columbia is opening again so that should relieve some of the pressure. Fish the morning and then again in the evening starting about 3:00 or 4:00 P.M.
We usaually quit about noon or so depending whats going on then return again after naps and some food. In the low light minutes of the morning try some bait if the plugs arnt working. Try what they eat in the salt! It can turn it on sometimes when nothing else is working. Good luck!!!
