Cowlitsfisherman is the access typically open now? or do you have to still get the cops involved. I would like to try it but don't want to get in a hassel over it. A big pissin match has a way of ruining a fishin trip. What king of water is it? I drift fish and float fish. Can you park in the area shown on the map?

I was down there last weekend and the gate was open. Stay to the left side of the pit area until you come to a large deadfall tree across the road. I parked there and walked in to take a look, but didn't fish. Nobody hassled me either. I'm pretty much a novice, just getting back into it, so I would suggest to bring all of your gear and set up when you arrive. Andy

Sorry I didn't get bak to you sooner, but it looks like Andy already helped you out. If you have not yet been there, you have lots of good drif water for either bait or bobber and jig. let us know how you did.

P.S. Get there real early if you fish the week ends. You'll most likely see lots of boats on the Cowlitz no matter where you go right now!

I have been down there a couple of times around 8:00 pm and the gate has been open. I don't think that they would attemp to lock you in now after having the sheriff called out. Since the sheriff reports states that there is a public access there, and the owner agreed that there was a public access there, he would be breaking the law by locking you in. Soon I hope to known what WDFW is going to do about the gate issue. I will keep the BB posted!
