How do you figure to Samish river tides when comparing those to Seattle tides? Its been a few years since I have fished it up there. I dont want to buy tide book since I will only be able to fish it once or twice this year. I was planning on going Tuesday the 18th.

Any help or even reports? Ill post a report after I go.

Aw just go sneak a peek at the book...

Fished the Samish over the weekend and while it seemed there were still quite a few kings around, most of those I saw were fit only for the smoker. Watched 8 or 9 fish caught Saturday, all snagged, all retained, four by the same guy (despite a 2 fish limit). He was back the next day bragging about how he'd kept 6 the day before. He was using a split shot and a piece of yarn. The fish are getting chased around a lot, and are quite line shy...while I've done well there earlier in the season, I could only entice a solitary humpy to bite my eggs. Should, however, be some silvers starting to show, and they're going to be much better biters than the hardhat kings...

Hmm..."Bowbillies"? Prepare to overhear some of the most inane chatter this side of the Hatfield/McCoy line...

good luck.

Wouldn't surprise me to see humpies in rivers that don't get them normally. With the huge run this year there are strays going all over the place. BK and I caught one out on the Oly Pen last week in one of it's famous rivers. Also saw a chum in another river that don't get chums.

Strays are the reason that there were wild fish in every river way back in the day. Can't remember how many times I've seen humpies and chums cruisin' through the fish ladder at the Ballard locks eek eek eek

I'm sure it was a humpy. Thought it was a jack king at first, then I was convinced it was a silver, but once it was in the net I got a good look at it. Figures, doesn't it... the same day I go to the Samish to catch a king I only catch a humpy, and then I go to the the Stilly to hook humpies and have to release a king...

Is it just me, or...are humpies really rather boring? I'd rather hook one summer run than 20 of those little buggers...

Yeah we got a bunch of humpies in the Quil too. Maybe 60 + spawners. Always have seen a a couple but a lot more this year. Quil historically is not a humpy river but mother nature has her ways so cool . I thought the Samish was opened after long years of closure due to historic snagging problems by the joint venture between WDFW and the Skagit Wildcatters? I thought these guys were goin to put the hurt on these poachers?
What happened?
