Maybe I can help clarify Coho's point on sharing river information. I have fished with him a bunch in the past and learned alot. He shared because I was willing to get up at 3am and cast a thousand cast's in the freezing cold on some nameless Penninsula river. I was willing to take entire weekends without casting once and just drive rivers in search of put-in's, takeouts, or good bank spots. The point is, share information on how to fish, what type of water to fish, what lures to use. Keep the exact location of your favorite spot to yourself. There is a reason the same spots get mentioned to new people on this board. They are usually hatchery holding areas where a new person can go, meet people, and be almost guaranteed to catch fish. From there, their own motivation is the limit. If every bit of information was posted here, your favorite spot would be full of people that don't know how to fish yet and are pluggin you in the head with slinkies. People with no knowledge of river etiquette. This would not be fun. Besides, how would Bob and the other great guides in Forks stay in business? It's not about being snobbish, it's about protecting something you've worked hard to learn. I take newbies fishing all the time, and will teach them what I know when I see they are genuinely interested and willing to put in the time. Sometimes they're just people I meet on the bank where I'm putting my driftboat in.

If it's all about getting a fish, I think we should just post the directions to Pike Place Market here and Bob can just close this BB.

There is so much more to it than fishing, it's the adventure of getting out there to see our beautiful state, meeting great people to laugh and share a joke with.

Keep exploring and learing. Meet new people to fish with. Make great friends for life. Hire a guide at least once a year and ye shall be rewarded.

And actually Coho was on the river on Sunday and he did catch fish. So the brown water clinic went on even though it seemed like Otis was putting on the clinic more that Coho hehehe :p

Good points and comming from a cracker they go really far

I know many people who catch fish in the brown flood water. The point is - during times of low productivity we ifish or PP or ?. Is there really alot of truly unknown rivers etc that are discussed on this board anyway? I have been around these boards for a year and a half and all these arguments are starting to repeat. Not saying I know it all. Just tired of hearing oh don't post that etc. - that is my really, secret zipper, super dupper, unfished, pristine, virgin personal fishing spot. Every one is entitled to thier opinion, even the zippers. It comes with the internet territory. This whole information age is changing alot of things in life .... even fishing. Who knows maybe internet chat room protacall will be written up on Ann Landers, then we will all know what to do.

I disagree with your argument about flocks of crackers coming out of the wood work to flail and plug up that favorite hole. Have you even been to a stacked hole, during a good bite on a crowded day and asked people, "have you heard of (insert your favorite zipperlip destroying internet chat room)?" The answer I have received most of the time ( 99% ) is, "what is that?" Think about it. Do most crackers have the balls and skill to take a limited post about an unknown river and even find the good hole let alone have the right gear or tech and catch fish? I say no. It is only those in the know, local who can do that. Crowded rivers are function of population - statistitics not "big mouths". Fish, people, energy, water all take the path of least resistance.

Where I went wrong was in taking a general beef and using coho's emotional example to explain it. I was in an irritable mood and was overly expressive in my post. This goes against Bob's objective to have peaceful informative discussions. For these things I appoligise.

Take it easy and as Coho and I said to each other already, "hope to see you on the river"
