Gammies or Vision, period.

Usually in June each year I just pick up a 100 box of red #4s for steelhead, 100 box of pink 1/0s for silvers, and a 100 box of red 2/0s for kings and start tying.

Good Luck

ok.. I'll stick my neck out to be hacked off.. smile

If I'm fishing where I know I'm not gunna loose a lotta rigs (bait w/ float).. Owner (cutting point)

Siwashes on plugs.. and for the bulk of my drift fishing.... Gammies

If I'm globalling at BC.. Vision.. can't beat the price, 8 hours and 30 rigs later.. hehehe (make sure its sharp b4 you tie it.. I've run into a few blunt ones and ones with really small barbs.. still good hooks though.)

As long as you know how and when to set the hook... I dont think it matters to the extent most people do.

As far as good hooks go, my fav. 3 are:

1) Gamakatsu
2)Eagle Claw
3)Vision

Siwash hooks are great in replacement of trebles on most plugs.

I use gamakatsu and owners.

Gooose, I think I had some as a teenager while on a family vacation in Loret De Mar, Spain. Us kids loved them so much our parents failed to tell us until years later. Those Spaniards sure make a mean horse burger. laugh

Those Spanish burgers tasted a lot better than those Salmon eggs that I tried a few weeks ago. eek

Every cast I try to have a Gami or an Owner hook
at the end of my line. Daiichi make a good hook
to. I don't cheat when it comes to my hooks. Any
other hooks will be given away to people that need one. I have other brands that I havn't used
in years. Its time for a garage sale. Spend the
money, get the best hook you can buy. It's not like
I can afford to have a hook not perform at the
highest level. I hate loosing a hook set of a pick
up. wink

Awh Heck...might as well come clean. I prefer Visions because of the design and price. I also fish Mustad 92553's in black because of the design similarity. I've tried all the rest at one time or the other ....yeah they work but when you fish a rivers that eat gear which I do I'll take the less expensive and essentially just as good hooks. Yeah those other brands are fine hhoks but I personally hate do pay extra for advertising and hype. Just my opinion ...please have mercy on the horse?!? eek

gooose rolleyes

Most of the favs are bait hooks that I'm not directly familiar with. My fly fishing needs are satisfied with Eagle Claw 1197B for winter flies - heavy wire that can roll a couple boulders and still come back sharp enough to pierce my thumbnail. Otherwise I use various Mustads; they're inexpensive and hold fish. I use a few Wilsons and Veniards for my high-falutin', uppity, elitist flies, but they don't catch fish any better than Mustads.

For my salmon fishing endeavors, I use whatever I pick up out of the river while I'm wading around fly fishing. Whatever you guys leave in the rocks I recycle during silver salmon season. Kinda' neat; I've got a pot pori of hook brands and sizes, not to mention all the corkies, etc.
