With This Permit In Your Pocket You Are Legaly Allowed To Fish In Any Fly Fishing Only Waters, But Use Any Type Of Gear. Where Would You Fish If This Was Made Available To You For A weekend Of Your Choice. North Fork Stilly, Upper DUc, Upper Hoko, ????

I like Fly fishing only areas for that reason they are fly fishing only. One area I fish would see way to much pressure if it was open to all types of fishing. In many areas I believe that the perssure would hurt the fish. Just my .02 cents.

I think that the permit that your talking about is the disabled person permit. Allowing them the use of spinning gear in fly only waters. Like off of the dock at places like RFC. I don't think that you could get to many places in a river with a wheel chair.

Um, if you want to fish any of these waters, you can. Just use a fly rod. If you have learned to use a bait casting reel, you can learn to use a fly rod. The bait caster is harder to learn, speaking from experience.

At least in Oregon, there is a distinction between "fly only" and "fly fishing only." On waters that fall under the former regulation, conventional gear is allowed so long as a fly is used. Under the latter scheme, a fly rod, fly reel, and fly line is required.
Of course here in Oregon, the same kind of wonderfully inclusive and egalitarian fellows who stay stuff like "it's easier than using a baitcaster," while completely ignoring the fact that THEY aren't in a wheelchair, just harass the Game Commission until it makes the "fly only" waters de facto "fly fishing only" by insisting on banning weighted flies.

Krome Bright. Go to Pg.12 of the regs. There is a 3"long Paragraph explaining what is fly fishing only. I could type it all but it would take me all night to do it. Jim S.
