I just read that some Southwestern rivers that dump into the Columbia have increased bag limits for Steelhead. It mentioned a couple rivers that I did not know had winter runs and I guess I am questioning whether or not they do. What Washington rivers along the Columbia have Winter run Steelhead? I know they have winter runs on the Cowlitz & Washougal but what About the Wind, Drano, White Salmon and Klickitat? Do they have winter run fish? Thanks in advance for your help.

Wind River has winter steelhead but is closed for the most part Lower river may or may not be open I dunno, however this is a remnant all native run and should be left alone.

White salmon has winter steelhead

Klickitat has winter steelhead but is closed

I dunno about the little white salmon/Drano

I have been fishing the Washougal river for years, its by far the best of our choices way south, drive into the town of Washougal and follow the road along the river, I was there a few days ago and was rewarded with a 10pd. native not far from the bridge just out of town, those metalheads are just suckers for fresh eggs!

Gentlemen,

Thanks for the info. I never knew some of those rivers had winter runs because I have never heard anyone fishing those rivers in the winter. May be a secret. I do know the Washougal is a good producer of winter runs. Have foished it a few times with pretty good success. I am curious about Drano and Big White Salmon. Where would one fish for winter metalheads on the big white. Same placwe as they do for summer runs or upriver?
