Hope I'm not beating a dead horse, but was very curious after reading Jigman's post regarding the pink paddle worms he's getting in. Are they shorter than standard 4 in.?, do you fish them below a bobber?, drift fish them? Am assuming the action is different, so do you still tip them with a prawn or shrimp? If shrimp, are we talkin cocktail shrimp? Jigman if you're lurking I've got the front seat in my boat open any day, let me know; would love to pick your brain!

We have used the paddle worm for awhile down here but we have only drift fished them and have had really good luck with it just that way. I have also used the 6" the same way and had good luck. The paddle worm we have used is the 3" version.

I have never fished them under a bobber but have seen guys do pretty well doing it that way.

Sid, they are actually called a hooktail worm and they are the 4 inch version. They work great fished on a jighead below a float as you would fish a jig. The hooktail has great action in the water when you hold back on the float, depending on how much you hold back on the float varies the action in the tail. I take an inch off the head of the worm before I thread it on the jighead, you'll need a collared jighead to hold the worm in place or it will slip down the hook. It's absolutely deadly on natives and also works well on both hatchery summer and winter runs. I've had them nearly rip the rod out of my hands on the swing at the end of the drift! A straight tail worm works better for drift fishing but on a jighead the hooktail is the way to go. I'll have some pics on the site of the worms soon. E-mail me about a float, I may be up for that. I don't use bait with them but I do like to put scent on them where legal.
