I've been subscribing to Outdoor Life for, (well longer than Tylers been around ) and I'm tired of all the advertisements and lack of articles for Washington. Ducks Unlimited is my only other magazine, (even though I don't duck hunt anymore, I still support the ducks) but would like to subscribe to one just for Washington and or Oregon on hunting and fishing, combined or separate magazines. Which ones do you recomend? Which ones you don't and why? Thanks.

STS, Fishing & Hunting News, I enjoy Western Outdoors, it's similar to Outdoor Life but typically has several articles and/or editorials that pertain specifically to the northwest.

I don't know of any for just Or. and Wa. but for hunting reading there is the Eastmans Journal and Eastmans Archery Journal. I dont archery hunt, but still get some good info from the archery one. They are written by contributors and a few regular coulmns. There is minimal advertisment and lots of good success photos. As well as tons of info on out of state hunt units. Then there is always the old stand-by STS, but surely you already have that one.!

I'm with JacobF, STS, WA/OR Fish and Hunt news, are about the main ones I look at. I am a magazine junkie, and also recommend the Eastman's Journal, and Trophy Hunter Magazine, which focuses on hunting in the NW states like UT, MT, ID, OR, WA, AZ, CO. I tend to get like you, frustrated with Outdoor Life and Field and Stream, that tend to have mostly whitetails, bass, and advertisements not relative to the NW. Sporco, and Fred Meyer's usually carry any of those above.

Is Hunting and Fishing news worth the money? I Don't want to support a magazine that list zipper lip rivers.

G-MAN, Thanks for supporting Ducks Unlimited. I get STS and like it. I have bought a few Washington-Oregon Game&Fish and looks ok so far. I need to read them rather than just buying them. I have bought fishing hole in the past and liked it. I would have subscribed but I get a few magazines and just scan them most of the time. I like Cabela's outfitter journal. If these don't interest you, there is always playboy.

When I do purchase a fish and hunt news I look at it as equal to my grandmothers purchase of the national enquierer or Star. Somtimes aa person just likes to read mindless lies and crud for the entertainment value. I sure do miss Skip Knowles this magazine hasn't been sleezy enough since he left.

G-man, Whatever you do, dont get Fishing and Hunting News!!! Like Salmo said, its the same ol' recycled B.S they use every year. I have just dropped my subsription because they gave out one of my favorite zipperlips. STS is awsome!! worth every penny... Fishing Holes is also a pretty good mag.

Western Outdoors is an excellant all-around outdoor oriented magazine that has lots of Washington and Oregon material. But it also covers most of the West and B.C. In addition to good articles on fishing/hunting/camping/boating/etc., I particularly like the Dateline West outdoor news monthly update section. It covers a lot of ground from legislation to unusual and interesting stories.
For a steelhead and salmon oriented fishing magazine, with an emphasis on the NW, you can't beat Salmon Trout Steelheader (STS).
