I've been searching the internet for cheap deals. My 2yr old daughter and I get to go to the Anchorage-Valdez area in late June/early July, which is probably about the peak of the tourist season. I know some places offer coupons on airfare and sea travel, but I haven't checked with a travel agent or made any reservations yet. Continental offers a no stop flight Seattle to Anchorage for $768, but I noticed the marine highway costs almost that much for walk-ons. Anybody know where I might be able to find a better deal? HT

Buzzo, This happens to be the peak time of year for air travel. Not only do you have the sport fisherman to contend with but more than that the Cruise ship business is at its peak with 25-30,000 plus passengers per week. Best bets is look at some of the internet travel sites before you call any travel agents, Try orbitz.com expedia.com travelocity.com priceline.com and there are some other out there

I've gone up every year in mid-June for the last 7 years. I've flown Alaska Airlines each time. I usually book my flight at the end of April or so. I've never paid more that $350 for a non-stop round trip ticket to Anchorage. Most years it was much less. Keep looking, you'll find a better fare than Continental is offering. One hint: Be a little flexible on travel dates, and fly the red-eyes if you can. Avoid leaving and returning on a weekend.

It would be nice if posters could post on the BB
if they come across a good flight ticket. Check Alaska every 2 days or so because it changes
overnight. We always fly out of Portland at night and come back the same way. However, Flying from Seattle was a good bet as well if you don't have
to leave a car parked at the airport.

BUZZ,
E-MAIL Me and I can help you out, I buy my tickets online, this year I have noticed that the fares are going up the closer to your travel date instead of going down,At least to alaska anyways.
Got my tickets for may in feb for 290 now they are 356, I looked yours up for around 6/30 to 7/8 from portland and the best I could do was 422

Buzz, I hope I am not to late on this post. I have a travel agency that I refer our clients to called Alaska's Best Travel. They have contracts with Alaska Air, Continental and others, they can get you great airfare from Seattle/Portland or any major west coast city ( ex: $405 non stop during the day, or $298 red eye) along with great east coast fares too. They also give you the lowest fare possible so if someone is having a sale they will give you that fare if it is lower than the contract rates they have. Their number is: 800-545-0844. Ask for Laurie or Dottie, tell them Corey sent you smile
