There is a board for Midwest Steelheaders that periodically does fly swaps. Here is how it would work. I would volunteer to run the thing, and we would have a sign up period, to find out everyone who is interested in participating. We would also have a date for the swap to terminate.

Once we have list of participants, I would post a total number of participants (i.e 25 guys), and each participant would tie that 25 duplicate flies of their favorite steelie fly pattern. All of your flies would be sent to me. When I get the flies, I will take 1 fly from each tyer, and put in an envelope and mail back to each participant. Kind of a neat way to get a look at a bunch of different flies, and maybe fish with something different.

So what do you think? Is it worth it or not? If so, I would like to do patterns for summer runs.

Hey Hawk-
I think you are confused...these spawn sacs of yours ARE NOT flies!!!...and thus would not qualify as a proper fly swap entry. wink

In regards to the swap, count me in, only if we have to tie say a half a dozen flies. I've been in a couple differnt swaps and those in which each particapant only tied 6 or so flies went much smoother then swaps in which a fly had to be tied for each particapant. The one downside ia that not every tier gets a fly from every particapant.

Looks like someone got a plate of stinkbait, and he complains about my cooking. Count me in for the swap. I not worried about sticky finger with the Hawk ( besides I know where he lives eek )

Ii'd be game. But I agree, you want a 12-15 participant limit. I've run swaps, and the bigger they get the more of a pain they are to organize. You'll set deadlines, and haave people procrastinate (right Sparkey?? smile )

I'm actually in process of setting up a ssummerrun swap. Iif anyone's interested, go to flyfishingforum.com and register. Then go to the Ppacifiic Steelhead area and you'll find a link I started saying "Anyone interested in a summerrun fly swap?. My deadline to get particpants is April 15th.

Iif you do have one here, I'll sign up.
