Just seeking some real-life experience with Loomis' warrenty. I'm thinking of grabbing a STR1025S GL2 for drift fishign the Clackamas and Sandy for steelies and silvers. I have a Lamiglass, and I know for a fact that they are awesome about returns, but I don't know too much about Loomis' warrenty.
Any horror or good experiences with them?

You can't go wrong with Loomis. Their warranty is
excellent. I have several Loomis rods and some
have been damaged because of the extreme fishing
that I do. Each time that it is returned to them
they repair or replace the Rod. This has been the
case since I first purchased Loomis years ago.
And you can count on Loomis being around for the
life of your Rod. Its the difference between a
Rod of a Life time and just another Cracker rod.
Make the investment in your fishing infa-structure. wink

Are you High or what dude, Lommis's warranty is nothing like it use to be when they were locally owned.
Lots of other rods out there with good warranties. Try an Allstar 1025 with a lifetime over the counter warranty!!!!!
Peace Superfly laugh laugh

I agree with Superfly , Loomis warranty SUCKS !!!
Before shimano got involved they were great rods . Now they use cheap reel seats and charge you to get your rod replaced . What am I paying $350 for ???

Loomis will replace any busted rod for $50. As for actual "for free" warranty, they refused it for me, although the fish broke the rod, not me.

Lamiglass replaced a busted rod for $10 (to cover shipping).

I'm having very bad direct customer service "issues" with Allstar. Personally, at this point in time, I'd be better off just buying a new rod at Ted's then trying to deal with Allstar directly.

We use the Loomis warranty quite often. We always end up paying something.. usually $40 replacement fee. They have been quick lately. It's a good warranty, I have nothing poor to say about it.
There are better. I really like working with Lamiglas, they have been great this year. As for Rogue well...

We should email this entire thread to Loomis and let them know the bad publicity they are getting from not taking care of their customers.

The "NO Questions asked" expeditor policy is the only good thing about the "NEW" Loomis. I won a great deal for a GL3 on E-bay and the USPS crushed it in shipping. I used the expeditor to replace it, the rod was destroyed. I have replaced three rods with this policy.

I will never pay full price for a loomis ever again. The last IMX I bought is junk compared to the originals, reel seats are garbage, blanks are flawed. I only buy them at discounted prices. Lamiglas from no on for retail purchases!

Lead Thrower,

What bad publicity might you be refering to? The consensus of this thread the way I read it is that overall, GLoomis has a good warranty policy.
The only real dissenting opinions comes from the Allstar rep. (surprise, surprise) and a disgruntled Oregonian. laugh laugh

EDIT: Oops, guess I should have posted faster.

Superfly why do you flame on my post? mad All I
did was state my case and you suggest that I am
high. What kind of remark is that to make to
someone that does'nt get high or drink alcohol. You
don't know me so please keep your response directed at the subject not the messengers. Thats
was a flame on my personal judgement of Loomis. I
am not here to sell rods. I am a fisherman that
is considerate of others. I was considering the
purchase of an All Star Rod but if you are the
rep I think I will pass right now. rolleyes

I had trouble returning my rod at sportco (lamiglas) i bought the rod, took it down to hoquiam fished it three days out of my 3 week vacation down there, The middle section of the bottom eye fell out, and i needed a new rod ASAP, and well it took a lot of work to get sportcoto give me a new rod... if after 3 days of service the things craps out they should give me a new one, no way in hell i was about to BUY another one, but then again at the lamiglas factory i've had great luck. I got a brand new 10-20lb spinning rod as a gift, i called lamiglas up and asked if i could switch it for a casting , and they had no problem... NOW thats Great customer service...
i guess the bottom line is deal with whoever gives you the least amount of trouble,.. i know in the future i'll deal with lamiglas and not sportco... so remember that if you buy a rod from sportco....

Hey Dances.

My jets are just fine. I was'nt expecting someone
to assume his fun should be at my expense. He
should joke with friends he knows and not try to
discredit my thread to sell his Rods. Most of us
refuse to use another member for some selfish need. You say he is a little crazy; then don't
talk to me about his problem. You should speak to him if he's your fishing buddy. Keep the All-Star
brand clean of personal negativity if he is a rep.
Enough said. I don't need to be ganged up on and
I will continue to contribute when I can. Thanks
for your respect. smile

All Star rods, you can get them at wall mart and kmart, my opinion they suck.
Loomis , worth the money even after shimano.
Shimano has not ruined this company, they are expanding. look at there return policy on reels.
Flame away!!!
All star + Bill dance + Bass = red neck dip ****

The company I work for is very good friends with the new prez of Shimano and gary Loomis and they are aware of what they are doing.

Well thanks for all your comments. I've decided to go ahead and plunge into a Loomis G2. I have 2 Lamiglass', and have nothing bad to say about them at all. I went with a Loomis this time because none of the Lamiglass' that I've seen just don't feel like they would make real nice steelhead drifting rods. Now I know I'm going to get some hurt for saying that, but after 'jiggling' a bunch of Lamiglass' and Loomis', I decided to give Loomis a shot.
As for the warrenty, we'll see how Loomis does, if they do me wrong, well, they can loose a customer for life. Lamiglass however, those are some good people. I bought a Chinook Special about 2 years ago, and being the 'rock-jumper' that I am, I jammed the tip into a rock and broke it off about 3 months ago. Took it up to Washington, and they built a new top-section for my poll for FREE...well, less shipping cost. Can't complain about that one bit smile
Anyways, thanks again...good fishing all!

jesse, the best way to feel the action on a rod is to have someone hold the tip low while you...on the business end...raise the rod. The arc will lead you in the right direction.

"jiggling" does that let you know if you are holding a lucky rod? eek laugh

FJ...out.

Jess, if you buy the Loomis, goto Auburn Marine and sport. If yoy buy from them you can return the rod to them and they will exchange it for FREE! no hidden cost nothing, staight across.
Heck they even exchange if you dont buy from them, but you might as well since they are the only dealer to do that.
Hey Salmontackler, I still like Salmon bay tackle the best. laugh You have all my fly needs.

Last Loomis rod I got was a 1082 GL3, Cermic came out of the bottom eye, reel turns circles on the pole from the top grade reel seat rolleyes . Top 6" broke off the top. Still had to pay to get a new one. It sits as a spare now. I can't figure out how a $50 no questions asked replacment policy is a good deal on a $300 rod.

Divers, you can't buy steelhead rods at W*** M***. You are compairing apples and oranges.
