Just seeking some real-life experience with Loomis' warrenty. I'm thinking of grabbing a STR1025S GL2 for drift fishign the Clackamas and Sandy for steelies and silvers. I have a Lamiglass, and I know for a fact that they are awesome about returns, but I don't know too much about Loomis' warrenty.
Any horror or good experiences with them?

You can't go wrong with Loomis. Their warranty is
excellent. I have several Loomis rods and some
have been damaged because of the extreme fishing
that I do. Each time that it is returned to them
they repair or replace the Rod. This has been the
case since I first purchased Loomis years ago.
And you can count on Loomis being around for the
life of your Rod. Its the difference between a
Rod of a Life time and just another Cracker rod.
Make the investment in your fishing infa-structure. wink

Are you High or what dude, Lommis's warranty is nothing like it use to be when they were locally owned.
Lots of other rods out there with good warranties. Try an Allstar 1025 with a lifetime over the counter warranty!!!!!

I agree with Superfly , Loomis warranty SUCKS !!!
Before shimano got involved they were great rods . Now they use cheap reel seats and charge you to get your rod replaced . What am I paying $350 for ???

Loomis will replace any busted rod for $50. As for actual "for free" warranty, they refused it for me, although the fish broke the rod, not me.

Lamiglass replaced a busted rod for $10 (to cover shipping).

I'm having very bad direct customer service "issues" with Allstar. Personally, at this point in time, I'd be better off just buying a new rod at Ted's then trying to deal with Allstar directly.

We use the Loomis warranty quite often. We always end up paying something.. usually $40 replacement fee. They have been quick lately. It's a good warranty, I have nothing poor to say about it.
There are better. I really like working with Lamiglas, they have been great this year. As for Rogue well...

We should email this entire thread to Loomis and let them know the bad publicity they are getting from not taking care of their customers.

The "NO Questions asked" expeditor policy is the only good thing about the "NEW" Loomis. I won a great deal for a GL3 on E-bay and the USPS crushed it in shipping. I used the expeditor to replace it, the rod was destroyed. I have replaced three rods with this policy.

I will never pay full price for a loomis ever again. The last IMX I bought is junk compared to the originals, reel seats are garbage, blanks are flawed. I only buy them at discounted prices. Lamiglas from no on for retail purchases!

Lead Thrower,

What bad publicity might you be refering to? The consensus of this thread the way I read it is that overall, GLoomis has a good warranty policy.
The only real dissenting opinions comes from the Allstar rep. (surprise, surprise) and a disgruntled Oregonian. laugh laugh

EDIT: Oops, guess I should have posted faster.

Superfly why do you flame on my post? mad All I
did was state my case and you suggest that I am
high. What kind of remark is that to make to
someone that does'nt get high or drink alcohol. You
don't know me so please keep your response directed at the subject not the messengers. Thats
was a flame on my personal judgement of Loomis. I
am not here to sell rods. I am a fisherman that
is considerate of others. I was considering the
purchase of an All Star Rod but if you are the
rep I think I will pass right now. rolleyes

I had trouble returning my rod at sportco (lamiglas) i bought the rod, took it down to hoquiam fished it three days out of my 3 week vacation down there, The middle section of the bottom eye fell out, and i needed a new rod ASAP, and well it took a lot of work to get sportcoto give me a new rod... if after 3 days of service the things craps out they should give me a new one, no way in hell i was about to BUY another one, but then again at the lamiglas factory i've had great luck. I got a brand new 10-20lb spinning rod as a gift, i called lamiglas up and asked if i could switch it for a casting , and they had no problem... NOW thats Great customer service...
i guess the bottom line is deal with whoever gives you the least amount of trouble,.. i know in the future i'll deal with lamiglas and not sportco... so remember that if you buy a rod from sportco....

Hey Dances.

My jets are just fine. I was'nt expecting someone
to assume his fun should be at my expense. He
should joke with friends he knows and not try to
discredit my thread to sell his Rods. Most of us
refuse to use another member for some selfish need. You say he is a little crazy; then don't
talk to me about his problem. You should speak to him if he's your fishing buddy. Keep the All-Star
brand clean of personal negativity if he is a rep.
Enough said. I don't need to be ganged up on and
I will continue to contribute when I can. Thanks
for your respect. smile

All Star rods, you can get them at wall mart and kmart, my opinion they suck.
Loomis , worth the money even after shimano.
Shimano has not ruined this company, they are expanding. look at there return policy on reels.

Well thanks for all your comments. I've decided to go ahead and plunge into a Loomis G2. I have 2 Lamiglass', and have nothing bad to say about them at all. I went with a Loomis this time because none of the Lamiglass' that I've seen just don't feel like they would make real nice steelhead drifting rods. Now I know I'm going to get some hurt for saying that, but after 'jiggling' a bunch of Lamiglass' and Loomis', I decided to give Loomis a shot.
As for the warrenty, we'll see how Loomis does, if they do me wrong, well, they can loose a customer for life. Lamiglass however, those are some good people. I bought a Chinook Special about 2 years ago, and being the 'rock-jumper' that I am, I jammed the tip into a rock and broke it off about 3 months ago. Took it up to Washington, and they built a new top-section for my poll for FREE...well, less shipping cost. Can't complain about that one bit smile
Anyways, thanks again...good fishing all!

jesse, the best way to feel the action on a rod is to have someone hold the tip low while you...on the business end...raise the rod. The arc will lead you in the right direction.

"jiggling" does that let you know if you are holding a lucky rod? eek laugh

Jess, if you buy the Loomis, goto Auburn Marine and sport. If yoy buy from them you can return the rod to them and they will exchange it for FREE! no hidden cost nothing, staight across.
Heck they even exchange if you dont buy from them, but you might as well since they are the only dealer to do that.

Last Loomis rod I got was a 1082 GL3, Cermic came out of the bottom eye, reel turns circles on the pole from the top grade reel seat rolleyes . Top 6" broke off the top. Still had to pay to get a new one. It sits as a spare now. I can't figure out how a $50 no questions asked replacment policy is a good deal on a $300 rod.

Divers, you can't buy steelhead rods at W*** M***. You are compairing apples and oranges.

Hmmmmm Divers? I suppose you can make a statement like that after actually tryin a rod? rolleyes Could you be specific on your experiences with it? I've been fishing 1025c Allstars since last September...and no problems....I find them a superb rod...damm good b@lls on the hook set and super sensitive...I've loaned them to several fishen friends who are 10 percenters...they liked them for the same reasons. Plus as Aunty said you can get several instead of one.....I quit payen for name value long time ago. So please enlighten us? laugh What? No? Hmmm? I am a dyed-in-the-wool Lamiglas fan. I had a Lami break on me last week and I turned it in to Sportco, so we'll see how it goes. I am hoping they just send me a new one.
.
As for the All-Star rods.....I have no ties to All-star in any way, but I did try one of Gooose's All-Stars the other day and I liked the it fished. I am even thinking of getting one in the future if the right deal comes along. It may depend on how Lamiglas treats me.

I just think it is really sad to see a once great local company go south when bought out by a worlwide corp oration. Sure we all would have sold out ourselves, but it is just sad to see it happen.
Also it is to bad that they don't have the same policy they use too.

I guess I am the guy that you are sorry for
offending. I am that someone. Its not easy to
admit when we are wrong, but by doing so it helps us to grow. The rest of your statement was the
only comment that was proper for the warranty
tread. As a rep in the future try not to redirect
a tread in order to focus attention on a product
that you have a built in prejudice. Because its
about personal sales. This hurts your own personal
credibility as it relates to that tread. It makes
members that are not reps very irratated when our
participation is polluted with selfishness and
deceit. Why don't you start a tread asking about
the All Star Waranty? Me personally I can't comment on the All Star Warranty because they havn't been around that long and the Jury is still out. When lurking to find a tread to advocate your product be careful not to offend
the board. When one member is attacked the whole
board feels it. Enuff said. I will move on and
I hope that I am making a difference. Peace smile

What I ment when I say the Jury is out is just that. In my judgement I can't give a verdict on
All Star because I don't know enuff people that
use them in my fishing Circle. Why is it that we
have to expect an asault from the same old gang
or so called inner circle that seems to think the
rest of us circle in a tight orbit around their
***hole. You are not the center of this boards
fishing Universe. You are the reason that flamming
is your MO. Anyother product that you don't
endorse or profit from, the group will lurk and
then attack. Whats with that? Remember to respect
the majority of us for we are also consummers that
can see through your collective games. Remember
who was wrong in the first place and my message was ment to shed some insight. I don't expect that
I am considered the problem here. Check out your
own backyard. I Never post any derogatory treads
towards individuals I don't know on this board.
I expect the same. My common interest in about
fishing not selling a product. Take a look at what you are doing and how you are doing it. I
promise you I will not be bullied. Just let it
go and stop trying to correct me. Clean up your
own backyard. I expect to continue to be a welcome
member of this board that respects and expect to
recieve respect in this common arena. Superfly I

That being said, I don't normally p!$$ and moan about spelling errors, but when I am annoyed by a holier-than-thou post like the series from JLH, all bets are off.

I'm certainly not prone to flaming here, and I don't consider myself one of the "inner circle" by any stretch of the imagination. Still, I know whose posts bother me and whose don't. JLH, yours bother me, and I'll bet I'm not alone. You could stand to get on a lower horse, and please spare me the explanation that you will feel obligated to provide in defense of your posts and/or your attitude. It won't help. Thanks.

Sorry goose, I have other things to do then monitor this web site 24/7. So don't be so offended or jump to conclusion if I didn't reply to ur answer on your command.

Id rather pay more for the Loomis and support them, and my local tackle shop who refuses to carry All Star. My money , I will support the company I like. My opinion is All Star sucks and that is what I had said before. No scientific data to back it up or tons of reserch. I don't care if you like All star that is your progative.
Also I dont even know Superfly and if he is a nice guy fine, I just don't like All Star, I never said he was a bad guy.
Bottom line, Jess asked a question I gave him what I thought. You have your opinion fine.

By the way, for so many people on this board that loves there All star so much and slams Loomis sure seem to be intrested in all my Loomis rods I aquired.

Also, Goose I know who you are and we fish the same tourist attraction / meat hole for them kings. I have talked to you before via email about this place on Martys BB. I thought you were a nice guy and still do but my bottom line is I think ALL Star Sucks, Loomis all the way. laugh

PS I will see you again this year at the meat hole and introduce my self as Divers to you. I am the one who was fishing Fly only.

Divers sorry you have opinions you can't backup with more than hearsay. Also you are obviously confused as I haven't fished a meathole for Kings in about 8 years. Like I said if ya like Loomis then buy Loomis...just don't bash something you self admittedly no nothing about. Oh and feel free to introduce yourself anytime...just hope the guy you mistake for me is the kind gentle soul that Gooose is wink .

Hey ,
I am sorry to anyone that I offended, it is just that My Alligator mouth sometimes overrides my canary ass.
Also Allstar has been around for years, But not in the northwest so you have a very Valid point in not knowing about there warranty policy.
Peace

What I said about Joe (superfly) was a light hearted joke he has no problems and he did not jump all over me about saying it either now when some one askes for an opinion and they get it, then they should take it for what its worth.

And I am with you AuntyM

Fishhead5, yes you can buy Allstar rods atthe blue light special and Wall mart, and many other fine stores like it near you.

Straight from the dealers them selves.

Goose I would be more then happy to do that.
No thanks, I will use my Fly or my Str1084 with my Calais. Walk the Walk talk the talk ?????
I don't brag or talk **** about my fishing.
Find one topic on this board where I say or do this.
Since I have been on this BB I have never bragged or said I catch more fish then all. In most cases, I play it down I say I suck and dont catch very many steelies ( kinda like an All Star eek )
I guess I am not like most of you who limits eevery outing. rolleyes
in fact I must be one of the very few who goes out and gets skunked for weeks and weeks @ a time.
frown
must be the Loomis. shocked shocked If I use an All star It will make me better and limit each time , I will be a super star.

Jesse

I also want to include that it is a good idea to use a Pole Cat or Rod Wrap to transport your rod to fishing hole. I have found that before I started to do this, I would incur problems ie., scratches, missing eyelets, breakage etc. Be sure to store rod properly to, away from heat and traffic. This has become a drill for me each time
I go fishing and it works. I have lot of Rods and reels that have lasted thru the years. I still keep adding when appropriate. I forgot to mention that its always good to wash salt and grit or slim from your Rods and Reels before storage. If you lived near Seattle I would sell you one of my 1025's. I have two including one GL2. I have heard a lot of really good stuff about TH rods in the past. When I figure out what I need I am going to have him custom make me a Rod. Any way I have directed specific information to you and only you. Not inviting others to critique or correct me. wink Anyway there are those of us that really care and want you to continue to grow and enjoy the sport you love called fishing. smile
