A tribal member asking for the state to make fisheries decisions FOR them?

That's rich, Walter. Really.

The thing that really gets me is that they think the "HOQUATS" (their name for white folk) are pissed because they can fish and we can't. They are to STUPID to figure out that it's the fish we are pissed about. I've seen them down on the Yute "corralling" the fish into thier nets. Sure the fish see the nets. But wouldn't run run frantically away from a 50hp motor on top of your head. Them damn idiots can't even net without cheating.......

If you can catch them corraling fish on video, that might be what it takes to shut them down. I read an article in the P-I this morning about corraling, and the tribal spokesperson denies it completely. (What else would you expect?) I'm sure that with all the publicity that this issue is getting, the indians will be on their best behavior.

I also have seen this corraling on the Yute, but the case I witnessed had the featherheads setting their nets, running downstream a ways, then beating sticks on the water to scare the fish back up into the nets. This incident was immediately reported by myself to the fisheries patrol officer who was at the Mora ranger station that day. The last I saw of this paticular indian that day he was making his way back to offload at LaPush, his boat was so dangerously overloaded with his greedy catch that, I swear his boat had only 2" of freeboard. Makes me wanna puke!
