There are a billion fish in the river, will they bite? Sometimes yes!!! It is a hit and miss scenario.

Fished there a week ago for two days most Fish were dark and very few biters, seals everywhere. Did manage to get two nice silvers and one boot but put in a lot of time.

Somewhat disapointing. I pretty much live down there this time of year and have had to work for every fish. In the past years we usually have several trips that rate "epic", this year not. Sure the lower end trollers get fish but I just can not bring myself to troll. Don't get me wrong or take offence but to me, the thing that gets me fired up is hooking the fish on a casted spinner. I just love the initial hookset and head shake. Just not the same as jerking the rod from the holder after the fish hits. Anyway, fishing has been hit and miss. The nets have been in and have their usual impact on the sport fisheries. Low water, bad tides, and nets add up having to work for your fish. I'm going to give it a go again tomorrow. I will post my report upon returning. Good luck....P

Went last weekend to Montessano. On Saturday me and partner both caught two, one of mine a 26 pound king. Sunday again we both caught two coho each. Caught the king trolling, the rest casting in to the bank. Felt like bass fishing! Guys casting were catching fish all morning long, trolling seemed slower. Most guys are using chartruese spinners, mine is orange as no chartreuse left anywhere.

Did end up fishng the Chehelis on Saturday at the Monteseno put-in on afternoon tide change. Fishing was good throwing #4 Chart. Vibrax. Anchored up above rolling fish and through downstream into slack water and let spinner sink to depth of holding fish. Then slowly retrieved and Bang! Silver, Chums and Kings were available. Find the fish rolling, and then concentrate your efforts. I was fishing in 15 feet of water, so get your presentation down deep.

Thanks for the earlier reports guys. I had a great time.

Glad to hear you did well! We put in at Montessano about the same time, or just before the tide change. We saw some fish caught, all four of us were skunked, however! Not one bite! We did see some nice fish, some pretty dark large kings, and some black ones that got thrown back. I am sure we saw you out there, glad you had a good day.
