Nope, nobody is fishing at Reiter. It's closed. Seriously. Look down below for the thread on closed rivers.

Might be fewer folks fishing there than you think, unless you caught the recent post on the emergengy closures. Originally posted by mudslinger: NEWS RELEASE WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE 600 Capitol Way North, Olympia, WA 98501-1091

Poor hatchery steelhead returns prompt fishing closures on seven northern Puget Sound rivers
OLYMPIA – Recreational game fish fishing will close Monday (Jan. 6) on sections of seven northern Puget Sound rivers to ensure enough adult steelhead return to hatcheries to produce the next generation, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) announced today.
The rivers affected by the emergency game fish fishing closure are:
(amoung others) The mainstem Skykomish River from 1,500 feet upstream to 1,000 feet downstream of the Reiter Ponds outlet
The latest rule changes can also be accessed via phone, at (360) 902-2500, ext. 2. There's still alot of river left, but they aren't closing the terminal areas down because of a surplus of fish that's for sure. Might even make one consider CNRing brats; now thats a switch. Best of luck.

I'm confused. This guy says he want to fish on Sunday -- I'm assuming tomorrow, which is the 5th. The closure begins on the 6th, right? Or have they already shut it down?

Good eyes HSL. I do seem to remember a recent post about a guy who got run off early though. Originally posted by BNelson: I don't know about the date....... As I just got kicked out of one of those closure areas and the signs the agent was putting up said effective 1-2-3 . What really is upsetting is I had just let one go! Thinking I was into them!
Oh well guess it's for the best. Not beyond the authorities to make arbitrary decisions. Might check to be sure.

Gad, seeing the location name brought back very old memories. Left Washington for a position in Calif. in 1984, but would work this section of water over with a Spey Rod before anyone even knew what the heck they were.
First place I ever got close to getting 'spooled' on a fly rod. fae

The signs at Reiter read indicate it closed 1/2/03.
