Fished the bay this morning. Boated about two dozen under sized blackmouth. Out of the two dozen fish a few were close to 22" and fat. No fish over 22" though. I did not see any keeper blackmouth taken either. I think my black box worked pretty well too, all things considered!

Ya, my BB was floating between .670 and .680. I was hitting fish every 5-10 minutes. I landed as many fish as another boat with three fisherman. :p

Check out information on the Black Box . Read the on line user manual at the bottom of the page. Very interesting reading.

Hey Easy, gave Elliot Bay a try myself today and had about the same results as you, I caught and released 11 shakers, including several 21 inchers, and lost a nice one first thing in the morning while trying to get out of the way of a ferry . My buddy caught only 4 shakers himself, but that's because he persisted in using an old non-luminous plug until I finally forced a coho killer on him in the afternoon We fished off the launch in the AM and West Point in the PM. I did see one boat net and keep a fish right in front of the launch (while we were getting more

Try turning the BB down to 620 or 600. You won't get as many shakers, but your chances of a bigger fish are greater. I run mine clear down to 530 for Kings and have caught 7-10 lb blackmouth with that setting. Give it a try and see if it doesn't work for you. I found this out by turning it on and not setting it. I checked it later when we were catching bigger blackmouth than anyone on Hat Island a couple of years ago. Small fish like the higher numbers.

Fished the bay yesterday from 8-4 Kept one about 28.5 and released two others just over legal.Lots of shakers.managedto lose 2 fish that we are pretty sure were leagal.I think the final count when I pulled out yesterday was 10 fish for 42 boats and no birds Can't wait for summer!

Is that 28.5 inches or pounds? I gotta start fishing for some of those birds. They are severely underfished.

Put in at Armeni launch Sunday morning about 7:15 and noticed over a dozen boats hanging around the launch until 7:30 when a air horn went off and all of the boats split at a fast rate of speed, to the south end of the bay. Went the other direction to fish and was wondering if a club was putting on an informal derby or something to that effect?? Anyone know what was going on? Thanks.

One of the reasons I like to set the BB at .680 when fishing 150'-170' is because the reading at that depth is more around the .600 mark at the ball. If fishing is slow, I'll turn on pulse mode which will jump me up to .720-.740. So it may appear that I run a hotter than normal wire, but in all actuality, I'm not.
