My fishing partner SHUTUPandFISH decided Saturday afternoon to smack a chrome steelie with the net to see if the plug would come out---before it was in the boat of course. Obviously, the plug came out and said fish wasted no time in taking advantage of the opportunity. My question to you is; For how many trips should he be banned from the boat for his sin? slap To add insult to injury, we have a trip planned for the OP this weekend! what

i would ban him indefinately, tell him get his own damn boat! how hard was this "whack" and by the sound of it, sounds like he was "releasing" a wild steelie?

Ya, I think I'm with Aunty on this one. I would also make him row through the prime waters. Question is did he put the beer down while he was netting? Might be part of the problem beer

I like AuntyM's idea, especially since he's taken my hook-ups and says, "I can't hand it off, he's runnin' at the boat". FS75, I guess there is the possibility that beer played a role in that; either that or he was just mad that he wasn't hooking any fish. cry

You bring the cracker, I' ll bring the Cheese!

We have been planning to get one of those really YELLOW rain jackets and print CRACKER in BIG BOLD LETTERS on the back. Make the Cracker wear that for an hour or so. wink

Give 'em a break. Few of us are perfect. Few.

fish4steel,

once burned, twice learned.
I've found it's usually the guy who blew the net job that is the last one to do it again. Besides, netting a steelhead, especially from a boat, is like dancing; it takes two to tango. Congrats, sounds to me like you just found yourself a better dance pardner next time the net comes out, more humble and cautious to boot. Have a great time on the OP; the sooner you get a net in his hands the better.

Some more good news! If you're fishing nates on the OP next weekend, it's probably best not to use the net anyway. wink

Only problem is, if he tails fish in shallow water as well as he nets, you might have to re-consider bringing the camera! laugh
