I've had a cold that hasn't gone away. my forehead is pounding and other things are pointing towards a sinus infection, what is a good way of fixing it without going to the doctor, any help would be cool, Ben

Sounds like excellant advice to me!

However.......
1. If you go to a Dr. and your cured don't post the name. (Dr. is now a zipper and you'll get flamed)

2. If you use an antibiotic don't even hint at the name. (another zipper... another flame job)

3. Don't disclose how you got to the Dr. (If you drive yourself your endangering the other motorists, sinus infection effects vision!)
(If you walk, you should have driven, too damp, too cold, too hot, too sunny.)
(If you take a bus, you should have walked, might have infected other passengers)

4. Don't disclose any prices, you could have gotten it cheaper.
(If you did get it cheaper it ain't the right one.)

5.And above all else...when you get better, DON'T I repeat DON'T post any pics of any part of the ordeal. There will be posts forever about the way you hold the glass, blow your nose, and GOD forbid" throw" dispose of the tissue.

Good luck and a speedy recovery smile

Yeah, we guys resist going to the doc, but it's the best idea. I've had it twice, and the anti-biotics can get rid of it in less than 10 days. Last summer I put up with it for 5 weeks before I wised up and saw my doc.

Although it may not work for everyone or for all colds, you could try dressingly warmly and then finding some place to soak up the sun. Also, don't sit around on your butt too long 'cause that doesn't allow your energy to flow. Sometimes I just find that going to the beach and taking in the salty sea air is a real nice fix. I stopped using medicines a long time ago. Simply said, "Eat your fruits and veggies". *don't mean to sound like a mamma*

What ever decongestant works for you & put a glob of mentholatum in a pan of boiling water, smear some up your nose holes and try to inhale as much steam as you can. Putting a towel over your head to help trap/cool it will help.

Worked for me.

Good luck

Hey, now you're gonna like this.......go fishing. Seriously. Ever notice how your nose runs like crazy when you get out in the cold for a while? Then when you get home, head for the shower and soak in the steamiest shower you can stand (don't turn on the exhaust fan until you're done). The steam and mentho rub is good, if the wifey won't let you out.

Of course there is always the Doc....but he has always been the last resort for me. I hate spending time and money on Doc's and meds.

Hope you get fish (er...WELL) soon! beer

I agree .... Go Fishing. Dont waste a perfectly good day of sick leave being sick. If you catch something you'll be cured, at least for a few minutes. eek

If you do get antibiotics, see what the doc says about taking it for 20 days instead of the usual 10. It takes awhile to clear the sinuses.

Sinus infections are nothing to screw around with. A friend of mine had a bad one, and was on medication for weeks. Also remember, your sinuses are only a fraction of an inch away from your brain. If the infection moves in there, you're in for a world of trouble.

antibiotics are the only thing.....i've had 'bodysurf syndrome' many times and you just gotta go to the doc....i've had my eardrums blowout because of the fluid build-up because i waited too long once...which kept me outta da surf for awhile.....great you went to the doc....
