Todd -
this is the second time this same request has come up. If steelheadfisher or his son ask a third time will you write the report for him?

I'm all for help our youth however anyone doing a science project and asking for help via the internet should be able to do a simple web search on their own.

Steelheadfisher,

Sounds like a good science fair project. I'd be interested to know how it comes out and if any of your teachers or friends have an interest in fishing too. Good luck on getting a good grade.

By the way, I think you came to a good place to start your search and get some good information. We are all lucky to have some very smart individuals on this board who are always willing to share their knowledge, guys like Todd and Smalma. And I’m sure there are many others who would love to help you too. Sorry I can’t be more help on this subject though. Good luck.

Just a side note. My daughter needed a science fair project last week. I just so happened to have 40 pounds of smelt freshly dipped from the Cowlitz. I helped her measure, weigh and sex every darn one of them. She is now crunching the numbers in Excel and doing an analysis of the data. This along with research on the Eulachon she's going to have a great project, not to mention some happy teachers with the smoke smelt we're having on the side.
