Hey EZ just a quick question for you. Are the dogfish as much a problem while fishing this time of the year as they are in the summer time?

Mini...
Dogfish are present throughout the year. However, as far as numbers, this time of year the number will be low. They start to migrate into the Sound, following the bait, mid to late Spring to spawn through the Summer. That's why in the Summer they are such a pain...

I released one about seven pounds in the Geoduck Derby just after daylight, knew it was not a winner and was hoping for something a little bigger, needless to say the next fish was four pounds and the next 4-5 were shakers, each one a little smaller than the one before. Top fish when I left was 20 # 9 oz. Guess there is always tommarow. NEN

Carl i got pushed back to tomorrow, how deep were you and did you get down to browns point, I have a crab pot I dug up on long beach I am gonna try also. Are the docks in the water at redondo...it would be way cheaper than DesMoines but I draft too much and I am pretty much by myself until I get the girlfreind trained to handle the boat so i don't want to go there without the dock...more so if its busy...

Yesterday, we fished right in 100' of water trolling from the launch down to Browns Pt. Crabbed in 90' of water.
The dock is out of the water at Redondo. There is no launch fee either, right now.
A busy day at Redondo right now is five trailers in the parking lot.

SF, The derby was in the Hood Canal this past weekend. THere were some nice fish caught, I did not here the final ladder standings as I knew I was not in them. I know of several other fish in the Mid to low teens, plus my the guy who caught the biggin. Todays fishing was MUCH slower, I did not even have a hit and only saw a fish or two caught. NEN

My Depth finder took a crap today so we anchored at redondo and crabbed 'till I fixed it at about 2:30. Trolled south to the grassy hill and hit about 3 shakers from 12 to 18". Went back and pulled the pot got one male red rock(6" big! I did not realize you could keep female reds) then trolled back to Des Moines. About halfway up the clay banks found a huge school of bait in 150' clear up to 60' in places...one or two smaller schools suspended at 30-50...moving slowly north...followed along with them and never got the rigger below 60' hooked up every single time for almost an hour...and no size to any of them...16-18" was the biggest ....made up for quality with quantity

Picked up a 6 pounder between Point Defiance launch and the claybanks right on the bottom in 140' of water. Green glow hootchie with blue stripe behind a small green hot spot.
