Canyon man - It's the area below Shiperd falls. They also have some hot springs in there too.

Where did they put the gate? Can you still get to the areas just above the indian launch or did they close off the road somewhere up top?

There is no access from Indian cabin road anymore. The gate is locked and everything from the corner at the bottom of the road down stream is part of the Indian fishing site. This year because of the lady mentioned previously they posted a big "No Trespassing" sign along with a bulletin board right at the corner instead of all the way at the end of the road. They also put up a cable across the old skid road which went down stream a ways. So even though the road going downstream is federal property we can not use it. Just another example of our tax dollars at work. If she wants to close her land so be it, but getting public land access closed is a bunch of B.S. I think we should all voice our displeasure with this any chance we get.

Just a point of clarification. I called Lonna's house yesterday to inquire as to the status of access and the location of the gate. To my surprise, I was told that it is not Lonna who has put up the gate and sold the keys but instead it was her ex-husband and children that are responsible for both the gate and key sale. The keys were apparantly sold via the internet and alot of locals were left out and are hopping mad. The ex-husband and children also live in close proximity to Lonna. Just thought I would pass this on so that frustration can be properly directed.

I ended up fishing at the mouth of the Wind down river last Sunday afternoon, all day Monday and Tuesday. I only had one take down. Fishing was pretty spotty those days, but reports said it was better a few days before. Sunday afternoon had a lot of boats out there, but things were thinned out more on Monday and Tuesday. A few boats seemed to do real well. I did real well there last year at the same time. According to a fish counter the bulk of the run was still a week out. I may try and give it one more go later this week. Good luck to all of you. Mike

I TALKED TO LONNA ST MARTIN 6 MONTHS AGO AND GOT THE PHONE NUMBER OF HER DAUGHTER WHO WAS HANDLING THE AFAIR. I WAS GOING TO SUGGEST A FLAT 50.00 FOR A PARKING STICKER AT THE TIME. I LEFT NUMEROUS MESSAGES WITH NO REPLY BACK FROM KARIS AND DANIEL GUNDERSON. THEN I HEAR ABOUT THE KEYS. SO I GUESS THE THE ACCESS IS FOR A PRIVILEDGED FEW LOCALS. I HEARD THAT THE KEYS ARE DUPLICATABLE SO THEIR SHOULD BE A LOT OF THEM FLOATING AROUND. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THEIR IS ACCESS TO THE COFFER DAM FROM ABOVE OFF OF BEAR CREEK ROAD???? GOOD FISHING

There is a rumor that a few days ago someone put super glue in the lock when there were people inside the gate. Hope they did not need to get to work.

Just a rumor from the lady at the Wind River Market.
