Well this time it actually happened to someone I fish with. My buddy had his 8-horse, Honda, 4-stroke, e-z steer bracket (still on the motor), stolen sometime Sunday night in the Kent vicinity. The engine was purchased new last summer and had less than 40 hours on it OUCH beathead

The motor was attached to his boat which sat in his driveway. Locks on the bolts apparently were no match for the scumbags! mad

Well if anyone happens to see a new Honda pop up in a Pawn Shop or local paper, e-mail me the info and my buddy will pursue the lead.

Watch your motors guys, in hind site, I'm sure he'll keep the replacement kicker in the garage for now on. eek

Ya, it is happening every where. I know a guy by where I keep my boat who had his motor attempted on but did not get it. Cut all the wires though (console). mad

The scumbags must really need some drug money these days. I went fishing down by Centralia on Sunday and someone broke into my van while I was on the river. Morons didn't get a thing because there wasn't anything of value, plus my security alarm must have scared them off quickly. The dirtbags ran away empty-handed, but I got a $250 window repair bill! Expensive fishing trip.

I was talking to my local insurance broker this afternoon. She was telling me she just saw paperwork for a guy who had his motor stolen from the Tacoma area recently.

It's not just outboards folks. In Oregon, they're letting non-violent offenders out of jail by the hundreds due to a lack of money. Will guess what...two cars on my street had their tires and wheels stolen last week -- and ours was one of them! A few blocks away, a new truck was stolen out of their driveway. And we live in Vancouver! Keep your eyes and ears open and watch your equipment guys...the bad guys are on the loose and looking for it.

The thing that befuddled my buddy the most was that while his motor was getting removed off of the back of his boat he slept less than 30 feet away in his bedroom and didn't here a thing. rolleyes

When I fish the Sky I never keep anything of value in my truck yet I still lock it. I think for now on I may just leave my doors open so that the dirtbags can do a cursory search without breaking a window. confused

they have been hitting the des moines marina and now they have hit the marine boat shop three times now. I wouldnt be surprised if its mainly russians (mainly up here in the city) and the engines never hit a local black market.

I got hit almost three years ago now and I am still PO'd and keeping my eye out for that thing.

I think what they do is come one night cut the cables and loosen the bolts. Then they come back another night and just grab-n-go!

Through some research I have heard that what happens to the motors is they end up in Alaska. Those guys go through motors pretty fast. It's a hell of a lot cheaper for them to buy some used 'hot' motor for $500 have it last 6mo then to spend $2 to $5k every year or two...????

Bobber down,
I have done exacytly that for quite a few years now.I keep nothing of value in my truck and leave the doors unlocked.I have an old kraco stereo which I removed the knobs from.Let them look around I would rather have that then have to replace the window or locks.I started doing this after spending a couple of years as a car stereo/alarm installer as a kid.saw too many vehicles with alarms get there windows broken only to have the security system scare the jerk away.

I keep my kicker locked up and put it on the boat when I use it. I bought one of the motor carriers from cabelas to make it alittle easier to get the motor to the boat. Still have to lift the kicker on to the boat each time but I would rather do that than get up to go fishing and find my kicker gone, did that once and don't want to do it again.
