on the WA fish and wildlife website it states that the expected return for summer steelhead is 20k for the soleduck, 60 k for the wynooche and 105,500 FOR THE GREEN RIVER (king county). With that kind of summer run return to the Green river what you would think there would be phenomenal fishing. yet when people speak of summer run steel opportunties the Green is not usually mentioned. Can anyone speek to how the catching is on the Green during the summer for steelhead.

That sounds like smolt plants to me. That's probably how many smolt they released. Only expect a small portion of that number to return. However, the Green is where I hooked my first summerrun. It was a big, gorgeous buck. They typically hang out low in the early summer - until July or so. Once August rolls around expect to find them up higher near the hatchery and around flaming geyser. They're tough little critters to locate but good luck. My bet is that the Green only gets a couple hundred back if they're lucky..... Nevertheless, they're out there....

That is the smolt release count. The average return of adult steelhead is 2-4% of the smolts that were released to come back this year. rolleyes

Unfortunately, the Muckleshoots started netting the Green for summer fish a few years back and it hasn't been the same since. The nets should be in soon.
