So what do I do after running trips for nine straight days on my day off? Go fishing, of course!!

A couple of empty seats on Capt. Bill's boat on Cook Inlet allowed me to sneak out for an evening fish ...

The launch / retrieve is always interesting as you're launched via a John Deere tractor dirctly into the surf ...



We trolled for a bit for kings before we headed out for the flatties. Although it's getting a little late for this fishery, the clients aboard managed to hook three kings. Theresa needed all of about two minutes before her rod bucked over and it was off to the races!!



And what was on the other end?? A dandy!



After some salmon fishing, we headed out to about 140 feet of water to chase some flatties ... it was fast and furious fishing so after putting one in the box for myself about the same size as this chcken ...



I sent down a whole salmon head to see if there were any bigger fish running around with the 15-50's that we were getting. Yep, there was ...



We're gonna have a major fish fry now! You're all invited to come on up and join us!

Dang Bob, you make me want to hop on a plane right now!

Don't even get me started Easy! To add insult to injury, my folks will be up fishing with Bob in July. It's gonna kill me when Bob posts that photo of Mom with her 50 pound king!

Next time I'm up that way, I really gotta spend a few days with Capt. Bill for some butts.

Maybe next summer....

In the meantime, I'll just bang my head against the wall looking at these excellent photos!

How big was that king?

Gee, reminds me of crankin those 5 LB weights from 300ft+ -- that alone was a challenge after the tide started to change!!!

Then one day, tap, tap, tap, yank and a half hour later, with sweat on the brow, and arms shaking from the fight, see color, bring the fish to the surface, and, and, and, and, ... It's a D**** 100lb+ skate.

Did have a lot of fun with the halibut however. We had to use a 22 shot in the head for more than one fish.

BEST EATING FISH IN THE WORLD -- Cooks' Inlet halibut in the 30-100lb class in my opinion.

Needless to say, Im quite envious.

We used the tractor launch at Ninilchik/Deep Creek. Is that where you launched?

Looks like lots of fun Bob. Not only do the fish look nice but the water looked damn calm and the sun was shining. Can't get it no better than that. How many lbs on your butt?

A flat day on the water for the most part, my tummy was very thankful ... there's a special reason I'm a river guide and not a salt guide

'But weighed 86 pounds, we estimated at 80 when we brought it up top, much bigger and I would have kicked it back as I really don't need too much meat (although I've had numerous requests for some now) and there would be a high likliehood that it would be a spawner size female as we exceed that 100 pound mark.

Looks like plenty for Sunday night clam / but fry's this winter
