I just got a gl2 1265c and was wondering if anyone uses these for downriggen rods. From what i have heard they make great rigger rods, but just want to see what you guys think.

An excellent rod! Be careful though, they can't too much abuse from tighten the line off the clip.

A couple of other "wallet easing" rods are the TDR and Convergence.. Under $50.00.

Used them for years with my downriggers. No problems. Great rod.

The old rule of thumb is glass rods for DR and graphite for casting/mooching.

You don't need a real sensitive rod for DR fishing.

But I have used a Loomis 10'6" on a DR for years w/o a problem. But then, I know the limitations of the rod. I take a lot of inexperienced fishermen out trolling and learned the hard way not to let them use graphite. Now I have a couple of TDR's for the rookies!
