Does anybody use these things? and with how much success? i was just given a few(green and pearl) by an old neighbor who has given up fishing and was wondering if they worked, and how you fished them. Thanks David

I have a friend that uses them and has real good success with the colors you have. I have caught a couple fish on a green one but I dont use them very often ( only if I run out of bait)

Same question as you D3. I just started using apex's last year but no success on them yet. I have Clear / silver, Green & a Chat. Hope to find one that will work for me this year.

Green and silver, Blue and silver. We have fished these trolled a lot, and the consensus is they usually outfish herring on clear days once the sun is high in the sky. On overcast/cloudy days they rarely touch fish. So there you go....

Have used the small in Pearl white for silvers and have done OK. Have'nt really fished much with the other colors. Usually stack it to run at midlevel depths 30' behind boat w/o any kind of attractor.

I picked up a green one that I painted with that 12 hour luminous Glowmate paint and it looks real cool and caught a couple shakers, but I find I don't lke the action at the speed that I troll for blackmouth. I like the coyote or coho killer a lot better. Will probably try it on 0 dark 30 kings this fall.

spawnout- how fast were you trying them at? I put one in the water just to look at it, trolling at about 2 knots and it was looking pretty good, wobling around.
do you use flashers with your spoons?

Another question... I hear a lot fo talk about coho killers and coyote spoons... how much does color matter with these? i see that a lot like the cop car or the green backed ones but how much do you think color really matters?

I don't use the Apex too often, but they take some playing around with to get the right action. Plus, when I am BM fishing, I am trolling too fast for them to work properly. Here's my take on the Apex...
For Blackmouth:
If there is a ton of bait and fish in the area, the Apex will work well. The design lends itself to very powerful vibrations in the water helping Mr Blackmouth home in on the "cripple." However, the design also has it problems.. One, it must be trolled slower than normal and two, if you are going to use a flasher, the leader length needs to be almost perfect. This is anywhere from 55-72" depending on the hook size and leader diameter. The good news is that they can be modified to track a little better at a faster speed. The best colors (IMO) 204, 210, 79, 304, 83, 375 and 454.
For Kings:
Run a large 6.25 all by itself and troll slow. These are a good bet for the Sinclair Bubble.
